Well it's obvious he's on the decline, as is Brady. The problem is, Brees is starting to compensate by throwing harder, and you're seeing more balls miss up and away on short and intermediate routes, especially the crossing roues.

He showed last year that he's still godly when protected and made some absurd plays (and mistakes) when under pressure.
Yep. Do you agree that Romo and Brees are as good as comparison as possible? I really think if Romo would have been here since 2006 the Saints success and failures over that time period would be eerily similar.

I just disagree. I think 2013 Brady and 2014 Brees should show people why judging QBs on wins is crazy. People said Brady was done in 2013. What actually happened is his offense sucked. It shows no matter how freaking good you are you need help. Brady is a top all time qb and he looked pedestrian in 2013

Brees made some really awful throws last year. but to the untrained eye (me) it's sometimes hard to tell if it's because of the pressure or if it's just a really terrible throw.

and in my opinion, he made some bad throws under pressure that were still just terrible. throws that a QB just can't make

Ok. Your point? Between 2013 and early 2014 a very common theme was Brady was over the hill and didnt have it anymore.

I don't mind the comparison at all. I've always thought Romo was a great QB

The biggest issue Brady has is he's among the worst in the league at throwing a true deep ball, and has been below average at that since his knee injury. The Patriots compensated by revamping the offense around the quick pass and abusing the seam routes with an all time great tight end. 2007 Brady hit almost every deep throw, 2014 Brady missed wide open deep WRs at a frightening pace. He's declined, the offense is just built to hide it.

Romo had the best OL in the NFL. He had more time to throw in the pocket than guys like Brees or Luck who often had very little time to throw the ball before being sacked. D. Murray also accounted for 392 carries and 449 touches so half the time Romo just had to give the ball to Murray who did half the damage to defenses. Romo also had Dez Bryant who's way better than any WR/TE that Brees or Luck had last year. Brees and Luck had way more pressure on them because they were the team while Romo had so much help last year all the pressure wasn't just on him. Romo is just outside the top tier IMO.
1. Rodgers

2. Brady
3. Big Ben
4. Manning
5. Luck/Brees

Without the stats, yes. Flacco has put up good numbers time to time, but nowhere near Peyton or any of the top 5.

Essentially he's similar to Ben in that earlier in his career he relied on defense and the running game to put him in good positions.

But Flacco has consistently had a good offensive line where as Ben has had a shitty offensive line for most of his career.

So you're going to keep using PFF's rankings for 1 position while ignoring it for the other?

And you obviously should be more efficient when throwing such few passes

Post the PFF QB rankings I'm not a member. I can post other advanced stats that show Brees was much closer to top 10 than 5 last season and considering the Saints have a bottom 5 group of WRs and TEs you can't expect him to be much better this year.
