So I don't see any good way to make this happen.

That is lazy. If its the right thing to pay them, then find a way to pay them.

you'd have to figure out why these institutions would decide to go this route. What would they get out of it that they don't have now?

Its not the institutions. Its the conference suits, the ADs, the coaches. The money to pay student athletes is already there, it just means those groups have to take a pay cut.

Not. Gonna. Happen.

Though it should.

I don't see this is a right and wrong situation. The players freely choose to accept what is being offered...and can opt out of the agreement at any time.

All of these parties are very valuable and their pay is commensurate with their value.

I don't think it should...and you've done nothing to make a case that it should. Your "matter of fact" statement is misplaced.

LOL

1. Their pay is inflated due to the $$$ from TV, etc and not commensurate with their value. Is the Iowa State AD worth 900k a year?

2. Are the players not very valuable? Should they not be paid commensurate with their value? And no, a scholarship is not commensurate with their value when schools are bringing in $20+M a year in TV contracts alone.

There is nothing amateur about big time CFB. Pretending so is delusional.

You've done nothing to make the case that they shouldnt.

These are the rules and its hard to figure out arent answers to the fundamental question.
