They ran the I and 1 back more that year than any year.

They weren't option but maybe 30%

They'd run a lot of predetermined pitch.

They also ran load and G option which is hard out of the I.

Tells you how great their OL was.

If Frazier gets beyond the line it isn't a sack; Frazier didn't get tackled in the backfield.

I thought if the qb doesn't drop back to pass then it's not a sack, so if Frazier was tackled behind LOS on an option play it's a tackle for loss

Yeah. lol

Had Lawrence Phillips actually stayed out of trouble in 1995, he probably would have run away with the Heisman Trophy. Due to his suspensions throughout the season, Phillips carried the ball only 71 times. But he made the most of those 71 carries, as he rushed for 547 yards (averaging almost 8 yards per carry!). Their leading rusher that year was Ahman Green. On 141 carries he rushed for 1,086 yards (an average of 7.7 yards per carry).

EDIT: Those numbers do not even include their bowl game performances. I believe both Green and Phillips rushed for well over 100 yards that night - both of them averaging over 7 yards per carry.

I remember thinking "uh-oh" when Frazier got screwed out of the Heisman. He took it out on us.

Oh and the talking head idiots on ESPN saying we'd be too fast for them on the natural grass surface.

That 95 Nebraska team was the best of my lifetime. No question.

One thing I do remember about the build up to that game were the pundits' endless rantings on natural turf vs. artificial turf.

Agreed.

That was the greatest college football team I ever saw. Including the '01 Canes or anyone else.

I thought it at the time and I still think it.

Yeah it was Corso specifically who said that we'd be too quick because of playing on grass at home and in most SEC stadiums.

Still seems suspect to not be called for 1 holding penalty the entire year.

They had close shaves against Boston College and Virginia Tech. '95 Nebraska did not have close shaves. Their closest game was a 35-21 victory over Washington State and that game was 35-7 going into the 4th quarter.

That option attack would have struggled against Miami's defense.

Yeah, not to take away from how legendary that team was, but GMAFB they didn't hold one time all season

The experts thought Nebraska's attack would struggle against Florida's defense as well. They rushed for 524 yards that night.

Miami's defense would have been crushed NU would've trapped them to death. That's what they did in Orange Bowl. In 01 Solich got away from traps.

That's how they beat Florida. Started traps. Then when UF started reading it the ran Load/G Option. They abused FSU in 93 with it but the refs gave FSU that game.

Wrong
The Greatest of All Time does not win at home 35-21 over a 3-8 shitstorm Washington State team.
Nebraska was a great team in a shitty conference and they ran the table in '95 with a program with many steriod users. If you feel better crowing about this type of accomplishment, you should instead be an Alabama fan and go ahead with a claim of 25 fictional NCs.

It's already been mentioned that Nebraska pulled starters up 35-7. That team didn't play a close game all season. They played two top 10 opponents on the road and won by 23 and 38 points. If they aren't the best ever, they're in the top 3.
