Well, in fairness, this board is now populated with prepubescent morons and e-tough guys. That said, however, you really can't expect to come here with a hopelessly lame and totally defenseless premise that "We lost because we had a bad recruiting class 5 years ago," and not expect to be skewered with rationality such as "Where were the recruits from 2010, 2011 and 2012 that helped you compile that excellent 8-4 record?" Only bad 5th year seniors were allowed to play in the bowl game?

You guys get top five/ten classes annually. You lose underclassmen to the draft because of their athletic ability.

Iowa gets classes in the 40s and if we can keep them in the program for 4-5 years will also get a great shot at the NFL, despite being less gifted athletically.

We've had to play guys before they were ready due to attrition (50% in the lays two senior classes). Some guys just don't want to make the commitment that it takes to play in the NFL.

We have good young talent, they just aren't on the same level as your young talent. The ones that hang around to be seniors have a >90% chance of getting to an NFL camp. That is the type of player we win with. That class that should have been there this year wasn't. It will be better the next few years and Iowa will be much better as well because of it.

What's a 5th year senior? Our guys are in the NFL after 3 years. Sorry, haven't time to reminisce with you. We're getting ready for Wisconsin.

Essentially a student-athlete that gets a degree. Happy for you guys and your minor league program.

Call me a purist, but college athletes should have to stay in college and earn a degree.

The same article you linked was making fun of an Iowa player for putting his education before football.

2012 LSU's was 77%

Iowa fans.. Print the T-Shirts.

No, if you followed the link you would realize that only 4 of 19 were multiple year starters. In a program that depends on seniors making a significant contribution, it's a killer.

Drew Clark

When camp opened this year and his name was again left off the depth chart, Clark decided to call it quits and focus on his engineering degree. He will graduate in May.

Final disposition: Student first, athlete second

All of the "Final dispositions" are tongue in cheek jabs at the players. It is teasing him for putting his education before football.

No they aren't. Some of them are because the situation called for it. Others are complimentary, which saying he's earning an engineering degree in May does.

What is this "5th year senior" you speak of?

They are kinda like yeti's. I personally doubt that they even exist. It has something to do with the reason why their staff is sooo much better than ours or something... And we over sign too much too.

BTW, these fifth year seniors are supposed to make really good LBs and nobody can run against them because of their defense's national ranking or something.

Yep, this board now definitely sucks. You can go back to your regularly scheduled circle jerk. My apologies to the reasonable Tiger fans out there. What in the world happened here in the last 5-10 years?
Sorry, BrewHawk. It's the same immaturity that gets traditions like the song "Neck" banned from the games. Football should be more like golf - a little sportsmanship. Actually, a lot more.

nstead you end up playing a close game against an average Iowa team in the Outback Bowl. Ironic isn't it?

Whew, that Iowa team sure did eat up the yards and clock on those two scoring drives. Was either of them more that five yards total? If this would not have been a rebuilding year on defense Iowa wouldn't have scored on those possessions inside our five yd line either.

The funniest thing about your weak attempt to sit at the big boy table and talk grown man FB is that nobody on the LSU sidelines was ever worried about Iowa winning that game. Iowa was totally outclassed by an LSU team that didn't bother to throw the ball or disguise their plays in the least.

Iowa fans should be embarrassed at how lazily the LSU team just walked over your boys.

I agree with the idea of the student athelete, but let's be honest brew it is becoming rare. LSU can't compete with the Gumps and Auburn's of the SEC with classes like you guys pull in. The demographics of college football has left the north and it will probably be along time before it shifts. And if Mett starts LSU wipes the field with you guys.
