Every single expert and the committee thought Oregon was better(Washington only ahead because records weren’t the same), Vegas had them as almost a two score favorite, the first game be damned

Well, they were all dead wrong, again.

Vegas is in the business of making money, not picking winners. I assure you they made a lot of money on this game even with that spread. Everyone was saying pick Oregon.

When will people learn that beating shite teams convincingly does not make a team a great team? That’s why this whole “eye test” nonsense was always a crock of shite.

It’s silly to argue “most deserving” vs “best” without defining what each of those terms mean.

It should always be about the resume. Resume is how you decide who is “best” and who is “most deserving” in the context of rankings for playoff teams.

Microcosm of how fricked up CFB has been not declaring on field results as the be all and end all.

But ESPN sold the "eye test" to market Bama years ago, sold do-overs, sold the idea we shouldn't trust results.

Washington to their credit made everyone (including me) realize we had become victim to CFB reprogramming propaganda that happened during Bama's reign. Washington is undefeated. How many undefeated titles does Bama have under Saban? 1?

Absolutely. It always needs to be about resume.

The people who would have put Oregon in for being the "better team" don't understand what makes sports great. Simple as.

Gamblers, nerds and haters in shambles

The problem with ever using Vegas is that they are simply trying to even out the money based on what people think.

It should always be most deserving/earned. Best team is purely an arbitrary thing br use it changed based on who you ask.

Head of the CFP committee is an utter joke and moron for even bringing it up much less stating “best teams” is priority because it means earning it on the field is second.

That’s why Bama getting in the BCS final in 2011 was so wrong. All things weren’t equal and yet they used a horrible metric to put them in.

The win versus LSU in that title game doesn’t vindicate the choice because any team can win a single game in the top 10.

Same goes for tOSU getting in in 2014. Just because the won doesn’t mean it was the right choice. It just worked out.

It’s never been best teams. I realize they say all sorts of nonsense on that Tuesday night show, but no one can tell me that’s what they’ve done.

I agree that it shouldn’t be “best teams” either.

I did the math, point differential between common opponents:
Oregon +192
Washington +66

Meaningless

People always point to common opponents and even go to common opponents of common opponents to compare teams. Waste of time.

Seriously. What is the point of playing the games if you’re just going to take the “best” teams?

I feel like I’m the only Georgia fan that doesn’t think we should get in if we lose tomorrow.

That’s an often repeated false statement. There are plenty of games where most of the money is on one team and the line isn’t shifted enough to balance it out.

91% of the money was on Tennessee to cover vs Vandy last week and the line barely moved for instance

Fantastic point. "Best" or "Eye test" really only should be a discussion between to equally deserving teams

Come over to the MSB. We all think Texas should get in over Alabama if both are 12-1(except Jon Ham).

It’s Oregon and their inferior resume that we have beef with.
