Colt McCoy's hurt shoulder vs. Bama. It had repercussions for the program long after that game.
My high school's once-dominant football team falling completely off the map.

Angels have the best player in baseball the past 5 years and only made the playoffs once.

Technically, the Braves have three titles.

That the human brain connects deeper with losing than winning.
I remember losses so much more vividly and think about them way more. The sadness and disappointment I feel is stronger than any happiness. Honestly, winning just feels more like a sigh of relief than anything else.
I like winning, but man do I fricking hate losing more than anything else.

One of the most disappointing things ever in sports... I always heard how successful they were here in Atlanta during that time. I was like, WTF? They are
a huge disappointment. You give that roster to a different organization and they would have easily won 5 world series.

As was poignantly noted on baseketball:

The Minneapolis Lakers moved to Los Angeles where there are no lakes. The Oilers moved to Tennessee where there is no oil. The Jazz moved to Salt Lake City where they don't allow music. The Raiders moved from Oakland to LA back to Oakland. No-one in LA seemed to notice.

2013 BCS game ending, AU/FSU.

Super Bowl stats:
Matt Ryan - 17/23, 284 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
Drew Brees - 32/38, 288 yards, 2 TD, 0 INT
You can say the Falcons choked, but I'm not really sure that you can accurately say Matt Ryan did.
Those stats omit one very important play

The Saints haven't qualified for the NFL playoffs for the last 3 seasons because of a monstrously putrid defensive unit.

quote:1) Denver having arguably the best offense in NFL history, in 2013, and only managing one touchdown during the Super Bowl where they were blown out by Seattle.
Things in your sports world that are hard to accept
2) Auburn scoring too fast in the 2013 BCSNCG.
3) The fact that my #1 and #2 happened during the same year.
4) Alabama being lucky enough to land Nick Saban at a time where Auburn controlled the rivalry.
5) The original Toomer's Oaks being gone.
6) frick New England.

Saban ending up at, of ALL places, Alabama and finally staying somewhere. What could have been for LSU the last 17 years (5+ NCs?). And of course Bama getting a mulligan in the 2011 NC game and ruining what could have been an all time great season/team.
Saints v. Niners in 2011 playoffs. If they hold on in that game I think there is a very good chance they beat the NYG in the Dome the following week and NE in the SB. Brees would have 2 championships, one each head-to-head against Manning and Brady.
The week of January 9-14, 2012 really sucked. The NC debacle and Saints loss happened within 5 days.
Ok, I have to stop

The Capitals have 0 cups and have been the best team in the NHL for the past two years.
The Wizards will never win a NBA championship in my lifetime. Will probably stop following them when John Wall leaves after his super max ends. I have enough disappointment from my DC sports teams and the NBA has less parity than the EPL.
Oklahoma St blowing that game against Iowa St crippled LSU football. Hopefully we can rebound once Saban finally retires.
Sean Taylor's death. He was arguably the defensive MVP that year and was really breaking out for the Redskins. Landry was balling out with him and that defense has a ton of swag. Likely build around him for the foreseeable future.
The Nationals for the past 5 years.
DC sports in general in my 30 years on earth.
Chile's crossbar strike against Brazil in the 119th minute of extra time in the 2014 World Cup could've changed the course of that World Cup and would've gone down as one of the greatest moments in World Cup history. I'm convinced Chile would've made the semifinals had they won that game. Probably would've been knocked out by Germany but not 7-1.

This. Throw in 2011 LSU and the fact the Orioles have the best record in the AL over the past 5 years and nothing to show for it...
Yup. Sports suck.

Freeman missed his block. Matt Ryan played an excellent game by any metric.
I know this comment is pointless, but this board is stupid irrational with anything Falcons or Saints.

The Saints turning the ball over 8,467 times against the 49ers in 2012.
Stoudemire and Diaw's suspensions in the 2007 playoffs.
A Friday night game held in Ames is partially responsible for the 2011 LSU team not being considered one of the best ever.
ETA: The Blues have never won or never will win a Stanley Cup

A fumble and took two huge sacks on that last drive to get them out of FG range.

He did and I wouldn't say Ryan choked, the coaches yes, but not not Ryan. There was no reason pass there on 3rd and 1 with 8:30 to go up 16. However the absolutely last thing you can do there is fumble.
