The games definitely feel like they progress at a faster pace. I'm really enjoying it.

How much longer are breaks between innings than they were several decades ago? Is it the same now as it is with the other 3 major sports?

We went to a day game last year in the September heat and humidity. We walked what felt like 2 miles to the stadium. And waited outside the gate for another 30-45 minutes. Grabbed some drinks. And then took our seats probably another 30 minutes before first pitch. The game was 11-5. And ran 3.5 hours. That particular day, I would have definitely appreciated a quicker paced game. But we hung around to the end anyway since we live over 100 miles away, and Pujols got one more at bat in the 9th inning.

So I can definitely appreciate the shorter games in person. Especially for a day game in the heat and humidity in addition to a long drive home. But watching on TV, it doesn't matter to me as much. So I see both sides of it.

And fans like me don't like the rules, and didn't mind the pace before. People will look for new reasons to whine about baseball being too slow. I'd like for people to leave sports alone, and find something else to do if they have that little patience.

Even if that much time is needed for the in-game chess match, it’s not fun for fans. All we see is a batter constantly fiddling with his gloves or a pitcher standing there on the mound. Wait a whole minute then the pitcher throws over to first. Another minute, then a ball. Some of these pitchers/hitters just took an excessive amount of time and like it or not, the sport has to be fun for fans to remain healthy.
