How long is Jones expected to be out? The Rockets do seem like a good fit. Although if he wants to be top dog he's got a better shot of that in Sacramento.
They have been very quiet about it. They've basically said they have no idea. It's a nerve injury, and there is no time-table on how long it will take for it to heal. Could be tomorrow, or he could be out for the season.

I would think Miami goes all out for this guy.

They can't pay him as much as Houston.

LOL @ Miami being a contender. Theyre an eastern conference playoff team, no more, no less.

I dont think they are a contender, but they have a strong need for him and could reel him in a bit.

I'm not, that's why I want Josh Smith on the Rockets.

why stretch out $5mil for the next 5 years?

It was explained nicely a couple posts down, and I agree. The Pistons do have some cap flexibility going forward, so increasing that figure by about 9 million is a good move...whether or not SVG can make better use of it than Dumars did remains to be seen. Once the new CBA kicks-in it won't hurt nearly as much. Like I said above, I'm just glad SVG did the smart thing...throwing away a future first rounder to get rid of Ben Gordon was not something I wanted to see repeated.

Smith would be a PF in Sacramento, not a SF. It was dumb to expect him to play on the wing and ask him not to shoot 3's

Exactly. It's the Pistons own fault to give them that fricking money and expect him to be better at the 3 than the PF. They get what they deserve.

He has been playing the 4 this year...that's not the issue.

Smith seems like the guy that you always say "he'd be great in the right situation" but nothing ever ends up being the right situation for him.

In Atl it was always up to "somebody else" to try and get the team going, Smith was never "the guy", and I agree, that elusive "situation" will remain just that.

Smith was a key cog on multiple playoff teams in ATL. He was a legit defensive player, too. It worked well for him when Joe Johnson was "the guy" on offense. Bibby, Al Horford... Those teams had structure and a veteran presences.

Houston would be a good spot for him, as would Dallas. And it only helps that he has good friends on both squads.

Being the guy on a young, Detroit team was destined to fail for him from the beginning.

Yea but a lot of those games the Hawks came back in because AL or Zaza started scrapping for the ball on the boards and getting put backs, they started it by playing hard then next thing you know Josh is now playing hard too, but it was never Josh that started the come back with good effort. Guy has all the talent in the world but he's a no heart/pay check player, and that's why he's not "the guy".

Josh is the prototypical should've gone to college guy. At least that way he could've started his career from the inside and then worked out. Give him three years of structure and earning playing time by a big time coach (like Izzo) and his talent could've been cultivated in an entirely different way.

There is a reason that draft class was the reason the age limit exists.
