Not a very good fit scheme wise of PT wise

Much cheaper pass rushing options out there

Well they're listing the Pats as one of the five landing spots for Dumervil.

Broncos, Bills, Bucs, and Dolphins are the other four

All the Pats need is a guy to come in on 3rd down to rush the passer and allow Nink to move to LBer for those downs

And older but cheaper 4-3 scheme fit options like John Abraham or Dwight Freeney would be a much better for the defense

He apparently wants to play for the dolphins

ETA and WR is a wayyyyy bigger need than pass rushing specialist is right now. And the Pats already had enough cap room to sign Dumerville, cutting lloyd has no effect on that possibility

After going back and forth on restructuring his contract, the Patriots have decided to release wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, according to Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald.

That would seem to indicate they’re serious about signing Steelers wideout Emmanuel Sanders to an offer sheet, though that paperwork hasn’t been filed.

They’ve also signed Danny Amendola and Donald Jones, but that’s a thin group considering their durability issues, meaning the Pats would still need to add there.

Lloyd shouldn’t have to look for work for long, as he’s clearly the best of an odd lot of wideouts on the unrestricted free agent market.

Pats seem to be tinkering too much this off season. I'm not counting them out as a contender but man they like to rock the boat.

Havent lost anyone on defense worth while and the offense is the same just with a revamped WR corp. keep everyone healthy and this squad could be better than last year on O with Sanders

Its not that much change, the Welker thing just makes it seem that way

The Patriots currently don't have a WR on their roster that caught a pass from Brady in 2012

How much cap room do the Dolphins still have? They're the team I keep hearing as most competition.

If Pittsburgh doesn't match and the Pats send their 3rd round pick to the Steelers, that will leave Belichick with only 4 picks in this year's draft - a 1st, a 2nd and two 7ths. Quite a change from the team's usual draft-day surplus of picks!

(Still possible they will pick up a comp 5th rounder if someone signs TE Michael H_________.)

I wouldn't mind keeping him, he seems like a diamond in the rough.

I still think they end up moving AHern to WR.
