No, that's what YOU were doing. And being rather offensive while so doing, I might add.

Great. You're "offended." I guess that means you win all arguments from here on out. Let me know if I need to brace for an ACLU lawsuit.

I'm saying there are plenty of non-black athletes, and plenty of black athletes who are not, as you seem to deem, sullied by hip-hop culture.

I never said there weren't. Would you like to go on record as claiming they're the rule or even the majority, though?

Also, for the damn record, plenty of baseball stars are just as into hip hop as their NBA counterparts. Hell, the flatbill cap trend was a baseball carryover iirc

See above.

I'd rather spend an afternoon at wrigley field than to be at an NFL stadium or basketball arena

I love the NFL more, but the stadium experience is meh and increasingly trashy. Basketball is fun, but I just don't enjoy watching it in any way

Baseball lacks star power. I don't feel like there are any players that draw more casual audiences, which is necessary if you schedule a jagillion games

Depends on the basketball game, but definitely agree that it is better than attending an NFL game

My dad has always been a big CBB fan, but once I started taking to some Grizzlies games he has fallen in love. Same with my grandpa who watches like every game nowadays if they are before his bed time.

I'm just trying to understand the point of "baseball is dead" threads - are the players not getting paid? Are the owners not turning a profit? Are the networks not turning revenue off the advertising?

a 9 billion dollar a year industry. Same as the NFL.

Baseball is 'dead'.

baseball is regional and has been for awhile. If the Braves just played game 6 there'd be a massive thread ongoing.

It doesn't capture the national consciousness as much anymore but that doesn't stop people from showing their stupid cards by declaring it dead.

The game will have to start making changes if it wants to work it's way back into the national picture, but even without it, it's doing just fine.

I was petrified he was gonna dribble towards the baseline and pull that infuriatingly unblockable fadeaway over Green for the win So glad he passed it

Or Astros, Cubs, Cardinals, Red Sox, maybe Yankees too on this board.

I was watching for a while last night, sorry for not posting in the thread, guys.

This x 1000

Also this. NFL games are a shade above Nascar as far as trash festivals go. The only way I'll probably go to a Texans game is if I'm given tickets or there's a playoff game (lol)

Baseball lacks star power

But this is the kicker compared to basketball. I like MLB significantly more than the NBA and don't really pay a ton of attention to the NBA until the second round of the playoffs, but the individual star power is much greater in the NBA. Until another Junior Griffey or Jeter rolls around MLB won't even be remotely close in that regard. The part of the NBA that's interesting to me is the front office moves and how the salary cap is managed by each team. The actual games, especially regular season games, can be tough to watch for me at times.

The idea that baseball is dying means that it will eventually die though. Which is an absurd notion. When is it going to die? What are they going to do, tear down Yankee Stadium and Fenway, stop selling the Yankee hats that fricking everyone in the world wears and tell the Cardinals fans "tough shite"? Come on.

I don't get it. So if your favorite team isn't in the finals, you don't watch? If the Red Wings weren't in the Stanley Cup, I'd still be watching and posting.

Baseball consistently gets lower replies, it wasn't just last night.

I'm sure chickens 'views' data would indicate less readers as well

soccer has a lot more activity than baseball. scoring? no, but activity? yes

now if tika taka takes over, you win. that shite is boring as the frick. i think that's already dying out though

i'm talking about the MLS overtaking MLB in 2 generations

I don't consider soccer to be boring or slow. There are boring games (like in any sport), but for the most part I think it's pretty exciting.

The last baseball game I watched on tv was during the McGuire/Sosa home run race. I stopped liking baseball because I found it to be slow, boring, and nothing the players did, besides the pitchers, impressed me.

i went through the first few pages, and one guy said that it was dead (after saying he was a fan) and another said it's dying in the 18-35 male demo

the other references were by baseball fans being defensive
