I will participate in your thread. I need a sport for the football offseason. I hate basketball.

The Red River Rugby conference kicks off today. New Orleans hosts Austin Huns. Griffins take on Houston and Austin Blacks head to Dallas to play the Quins.

Gonna be a tough season. I've semi-retired so it'll be weird watching from the touch line today.

Griffins from Allen, Texas. Rugbyag from here was their captain last year.

Nice win yesterday bus. Didn't know you were retiring. Losing both you and Matt in the same year can't be easy to replace. Are you making the trip this upcoming weekend?

No longer captain this year. Had a second kid and couldn't commit to the same level as previous years.

Ospreys-Northampton Thoughts:

Too many fricking handling areas in bad positions.

We are an incredibly stupid side under pressure.

Way too many players trying to be heroes. The frick-up on the try-line at the end is a perfect example.

I unfortunately wasn't able to attend as I was busy with church-things until about 20 minutes in. However, it looked like half the attendees were locked out thanks to some terrible traffic management.

In contrast, the pitch at the Liberty was amazing, especially considering the conditions this weekend and that there was a soccer match yesterday as well. Grounds-crew

I'll be making the trip. Southwest had $81 roundtrip flights to Dallas so I couldn't say no.

We had a prop sit out all of last year due to injury and coached who is now back in the mix, and have worked some newer guys in there.

I tore my labrum last April and had some nagging achilles tendonitis so I felt like i was done. I've lost 75lbs since the season ended, so you might not even recognize me. I'm sure I'll end up out there eventually this year once I feel more confident with my shoulder.

Clermont still a top Pool 1 after closing out a close game at Sale. Though we came out of it the worst having now lost Aurelien Rougerie for two months(elbow).

Sets up for the big showdown next weekend when Munster travels to the Auvergne to decide who the pool winner is with possible home quarter finals on the line.

So I guess Sale's getting all the points?

Here are my thoughts

1. that was the worst Munster side I have ever seen on the pitch.
2. Worst European game ever out of POC.
3. Munster scrum is in shambles...I love what Flannery did as a player for Munster and Ireland but he needs to quickly improve as a coach.
4. Wyles played great for the Saracens after the call up. His grubber that was an Ashton try was great.
5. Not sure what is going on with the Quins, but every game is a different team.
6. Castres is in shambles and could see them on the drop.
7. And don't forget...less than 3 weeks to six nations

They didn't get any points not even a losing bonus point cause Clermont scored a try at the end of the match.

Sale is at the bottom of the table. As it stands right now Pool 1 looks like:

Clermont 4 wins 0 draws 1 loss 18 points

Saracens 4 wins 0 draws 1 loss 17 points

Munster 2 wins 0 draws 3 losses 10 points

Sale 0 wins 0 draws 5 losses 2 points

So yeah its a way bigger match for Clermont than it is for Munster who is likely already out of it. But what's really on the line is having possible home field in the quarter finals for either Clermont or Saracens

Losing Rougerie though was a tough blow not just for Clermont but for France since he has been in great form as of late.

They're fighting against relegation to ProD2 right now in the Top 14.

That's some turn around after winning the Top 14 two seasons ago and going to the finals last season.

Looks like last season aside losing their coaching staff to Racing Metro might have been a fatal blow.

I was making a joke based on you having Munster going to Clermont, despite Munster's next match being against Sale.

I'm sure you're right. It seems like I've had all my dates screwed up for the last couple of weeks.
