Swanson won't be MLB ready until 2018? Huh?

I think it's latter 2017.

Yeah, I found that list to be a good one but found his eta for Swanson odd as well. Swanson is farther along than Albies developmentwise, I imagine he'll be up before him if anything. I'd think both are ready in late 2017.

I'm thinking Albies makes the move to 2B. While either could play SS or 2B, most scouts I've seen compare them seem to think Swanson is the slightly better fit at SS due to a slightly better arm.

Either way we are going to have awesome up the middle defense with very good offense for quite a while.

Pardon my ignorance. I'm trying to catch up. What are some of the Braves' positional battles going to be this spring training?

You're right, I didn't get the joke. I am still salty over not getting to meet him.

I think he could be ready early 2017. My guess is he will be up at Super 2 2017 so we can get an extra year of service.

Most of the battles are in the rotation and for a few spots in the pen.

The lineup looks somewhat set as:

C- AJP/ Flowers platoon
1B- Freeman
2B- Peterson/Beckham platoon
SS- Aybar
3b- Garcia/Johnson platoon
RF - Markakis
CF- Inciarte (though possible platoon vs LHP)
LF- Olivera

Anyone else particularly excited about Mike Soroka? Everytime I see his name, it is sang in my head to the tune My Sharona (LINK ).

It's the little things these days.

So Newcomb, Blair, and Allard all projected as #3 starters?

Sure hope one or more pans out better than that. Touki as well.

Newcombe and toussaint both have #1 stuff if they can gain control. If Newcombe develops a third pitch I see him as a 1/2 and if touki puts it together/throws strikes no reason he shouldn't be very special.

Sims and Allard have high end stuff imo, Blair is the one I see as a 3 or below

They all have high end stuff. What the article is projecting is the most likely scenario.

quote:

I've already pegged Freddie Freeman for a career year and Arodys Vizcaino for a breakout season as a closer. So that's accentuating the positive for a Braves team that won't be very good. Reflecting that, I'll predict that Julio Teheran will become MLB's first 20-game loser since Mike Maroth lost 21 games for the 2001 Tigers. You have to be good enough to stay in a rotation while pitching for a bad team, and that sounds like Teheran and the Braves in 2016. -- Christina Kahrl

I'll take the under on the 20 losses. It'll be less than 15.

I take the under on the 20 L's. It's a bold prediction thread. We know we are going to be bad and we know barring injury or trade Julio will stay in the rotation.

I saw the bold prediction on 20 losses. That's not bold, that's stupid.

I can see the logic from he/she. I seriously doubt it will happen but if you were to make a list of potential candidates, Julio would probably be number one. Shelby lost 17 with a 3.02 ERA last year.

It's click bait. I get why you say outlandish shite especially in a bold prediction piece. But zero chance that happens.

The Braves will be better this year than last IMO. Offense is definitely improved.
