How do you mess up that job?
That's a top 5 AD job for sure and all you really have to do is stay out of the way at UT.
It runs itself if you make solid coaching hires.

Obviously it is a great job and has tremendous resources but you can't really think that something like that "runs itself"? It takes a lot of work to make something successful.

Apparently he's given them plenty of reasons too.

I think Louisville's AD is one of the best in the country. He should be on UT's list IMO

This is potentially bad news for Charlie Strong, no? Any new guy coming in didn't have a hand in the hiring process, and can pretty much do what they want.

Remember, we are talking about the guy who drove the blazers, an NBA franchise who had sustained success for over 20/25 years, into the ground in hilarious fashion and they are just starting to recover from

Patterson doesn't have a buyout, so not only are they firing him they are on the hook for paying him 5 million to go away. You must be a special type of a-hole to get 5 million just to go away.

Big money guys never supported him. They had a fire Steve Patterson plane flying around the stadium last Saturday.

If they bring Mack back to be the boss of his replacement, after Mack ran the program into the ground, then Texas is officially the craziest place in all the land.

Yep. Charlie Strong was Patterson's "guy" and now he is gone. I am pretty sure the interim AD will give the pervervial thumbs up and his "support" to Strong. They always say those things. Wait till seasons end and see what happens.

Add patterson's $5 million to the buyouts being paid to Brown and (I think) Barnes.

How much is Austin paying in total for people not to work?

Lol. There are plenty back country and hills there for popping wheelies on his motorcycle. Co-ed included
