How do you mess up that job?
That's a top 5 AD job for sure and all you really have to do is stay out of the way at UT.
It runs itself if you make solid coaching hires.

I bet dealing with billionaire/hundred millionaire boosters is actually pretty tough. They aren't always right, but they always think they are and if you disagree with them its really bad for you.

Is a great AD, but too much of his own person, hard headed, and big of a personality to deal with those boosters IMO.

They need a Phil Jackson personality at AD.

I think Louisville's AD is one of the best in the country. He should be on UT's list IMO

Does he have any connection to Louisville or is he just their AD?

He's a fantastic AD. Although, I bet Louisville can muster up serious money to keep him. They are far from poor.

I don't think he has any sort of other connection but he's going to be worth whatever they have to raise to keep him.

Alleva is a solid AD

Yeah, never mind LSU's athletic program has FAR surpassed UT in multiple sports. Alleva isn't an "LSU guy"

our fans are fricking nuts. Alleva is pretty damn good. they don't get the hint when Penn State and Tennessee want him

ESPN initially ran the story as ''Texas fires AD GARY Patterson"

Patterson was brought in specifically to clean up the politics and reduce the influence of the boosters

Does this mean they cancel the games in Mexico?!? Do they continue expanding the brand in China or maybe focus on the fact that their brand is dog shite right now in the state of Texas?

I still don't believe he gets fired unless they go winless in the conference. I think he gets one more year

Yeah it's ridiculous. They blame him for everything, up to and including mother nature.

They're too worried about Mack meddling in the football program, installing cronies, and not having the stones to make tough decisions in holding people accountable.

It depends. Often, the better coaches want more stuff pushed agenda wise. Saban pushes for things to get changed. Meyer pushed for the families to get way more money to attend playoff games and Gene Smith had to carry that torch to the NCAA or whoever. It's an easy job when your team is winning, but since a lot is cyclical, it's not always easy

I would actually think being the AD at a school like Iowa is much easier. If your football team is 8-4 and your basketball team is in the running for the tourney, you are having a great year

I didn't approve of Alleva's job performance the first couple of years; the past two years he has done a very good job. Posters get stuck on a theme and don't look beyond initial impressions.
