I wonder, does ESPN bring him back if this little venture fails?
Depends on what he calls a failure. I'd guess some team would let him hang around on a double-A roster for the publicity. Zero chance of him ever making a major league or Triple-A roster though.

Tebow trying out for MLB per Schefty
Attention whore far more than an athlete. If he had been a team player and simply interested in using his "gifts" as an athlete, he'd have welcomed a position change and made an NFL team.
But...if he wasn't the QB he wouldn't be in the spotlight...so, well...nah. Takes his ball, goes home and allows his fans to claim he never got his shot.
Sadly, folks that want to love him because of his religious stance can't seem to see this behavior for what it would be obvious to be if he was less likable personally.

You're just too stupid to realize it's the media given him attention, not himself

Sure. It's not his legion of fans that spend their entire time barking about how he's not getting his fair shot, or his lack of desire to use this competitive spirit he has to actually stay in the league and play for a team and be a good teammate.
You can see it in this thread... Those people that have a desire to like him, based largely on his sharing their same religious beliefs, will do so regardless of whatever self serving action he takes. His actions since leaving Florida, at least in terms of his professional sports career, have always been selfish in nature. It's always about what would get the most spotlight on him, and not about simply being one of the guys.
While I certainly do not agree with the guy on his world view in terms of religion, he seems like a nice enough guy. but I'm not going t pretend that he's not driven VERY much so by his ego...and this move is clearly that.
Honestly, the most surprising thing about Tebow is that he has not shown up on TLC in some reality show...

Too old, too late.
Hope he doesn't take a job from a real prospect because of media hype.
If the best athlete of our generation can't do it (Jordan, of course) - no way Tebow can.

Greatest basketball player not greatest pure athletes. Also, who says Tebow doesn't have skills that more easily translate to baseball?

No matter what level he reaches, this will not happen.

Jordan's baseball stint shouldn't be dismissed just because he didn't make the majors. What he did was fricking impressive.

But it's obvious he has an issue with reality. It's like he created this little world where if he thinks he can do it then he actually can, and no one is going to tell him otherwise. Best of luck to him though
Maybe he is just doing whatever the frick he wants because he can and has money. I mean, why not play baseball for the hell of it?

I swear some of you are the most negative people in the world. I'll bet y'all are a joy to be around.
Live life to the fullest and do what the hell you want to do. Hes got the money and time, why the hell not??
He's genuinely a good guy but some of you can't get past your own biases.

I really don't see the issue. Tebow is a pretty good athlete. If he wants to try baseball I don't see the harm in it.
Just seems like people are jealous that the guy actually has the talent to try different things. If it works out great for him. If it doesn't it harms absolutely no one.
Never understood the hatred/disdain for Tebow.
he surely played hardball as a boy. He might have serious power.
I agree with the post I clipped in, except that I do understand the distain.
The distain is due to two factors.
1. never willing to practice as FB or TE nor to play QB in CFL and hone his skills until he is either proved or fails. I would have bet my hat that when he was on the Patriots if he had gone to Bellichek and asked to be coached to play a hybrid HB/TE position, he would have got the chance.
2. bringing his religion with him to every conversation. I get it that he is a missionary. still.... after a while....

So many of yall are irrationally angry at a guy who legit doesn't have a bad bone in his body. Yall are like the teenage girls that only like a-hole guys.
ETA: Not even a minute for 2 downvotes. You guys are pathetic with the Tebow hate.

I agree with this. I also support his religious stance.

Getting to AA at all after being away from the game for that long is impressive.

If he wants to play in the NFL and be an NFL QB that badly he would have played in Canada. I'm not angry at him at all, he can do whatever he wants to do and I think he's a good person. It's just annoying to me that people play up this "can't quit" persona of him when plenty of pro football players have chased it a lot harder than he has.

I do think changing positions would have been way harder than people are thinking. The guy has never put his hand in the dirt once in his career.
I've never read what his reasoning for not wanting to switch positions, but I wouldn't blame him for not wanting to wreck his brain for a small chance at continuing to play football.

I'm sure it would have, but it didn't seem like he ever really committed to it or tried it. I mean him giving up football for an announcing career is a totally reasonable career choice, but he continued to talk about "just wanting an opportunity". He seemed pretty picky in his opportunities. I thought going to Canada would have been a good move for him to prove himself if he really wanted to keep playing.
I don't understand the baseball thing but it should be fun to follow for however long it lasts

He was 31 and hadn't played baseball at all in at least 13 years. His numbers get more respectable if you include his Fall League stats.
