Would love to have a baseball team here but the city couldn't support three major sport franchises... especially being that of baseball. It would be no different than it is now in Tampa.

Tourists don't make for good fans.
Exactly. That is the thinking that got MLB in its florida problem in the first place. Tourists and transplants don't make for a good fan base and the Marlins are exhibit A and Rays are exhibit B. I rest my case your honor.

Are you really implying a family that goes to Disney would really want to/rather go to a baseball game? Can you find me a 2 or 3 year old kid that would actually sit through a full MLB baseball game? Your logic is a bit off my friend. Disney would be competitor to any MLB team in Orlando, not a supporter.

The Rays do well on TV and radio. This graph shows combined average viewing audience and attendance from last year. Still not great, but not terrible either. Strong TV ratings is a reason so many think a lot will change attendance wise with a stadium move.

Typically though, NBA arenas have about half the seating capacity that MLB parks/stadiums do. Also, the NBA has half the games an MLB team does. MLB weekday games earlier and later in the season when Disney does not have its summer rush would be empty houses, unless somehow they put together a playoff team, in which case, they may have decent crowds, but MLB is a totally different animal than NBA.
ETA: MLB parks hold between 31 to 56K, while NBA arenas hold between 16 to 21K. NBA season is 82 games, while MLB is 162. MLB has 80 more total games than NBA and has double and close to triple the amount of seats to sell.

Can we give the pelicans to someone else to make this happen?

I'm sure this has been discussed ad nauseam, but New Orleans seems like it would be a good landing spot

If Tampa/St. Pete wants to keep them, they will build a stadium. If not...

I thought the Trop was a dump of a stadium too. However, they have more atmosphere there than the Rangers have around their stadium.

The TV/radio numbers pointed out suggest that "if you build it they will come" may apply. The Rays support around the bay area is a lot stronger than it would appear from home game attendance.
There's many good baseball fans down here (this is Grapefruit HQ after all) who absolutely hate going to the Trop. It's very easy to want to pass on box seats.
New stadium would be awful during the day unless it's also indoors. It's basically Louisiana humidity and heat.

Saw a game there last summer (2014) vs Blue Jays. Didn't think it was that bad a place to watch a game. Didn't care for the 10$ beers though

That's every MLB stadium, at least every one that I have been to.
