re: T or F: Out of all college QBs this year, Cardale looks to be best pro prospect

False. His mechanics looked terrible.

I'm not saying the guy is a sure thing or will even be a good pro.
I'm saying based on this weak QB class (IMO), he has the most physical ability and highest upside.
He would be a good pick to sit for a year or two and then see what he can do.
I'm not saying he won't go pro, or even that he shouldn't. If he thinks staying in school and competing for the starting job (which he's earned the right to do IMO) is best for him, that's fine. But his stock may not ever be this high, so it wouldn't even be stupid monetarily for him to leave.
The problem is that society these days is so fricking "right now," that teams will draft him based on three whole games and then expect him to start that first year most likely. It seems like gone are the days where a team drafts a guy and allows him to learn the ways of the league (and from better QBs) and then get some starts. Because everything is so "what have you done for me lately," everybody wants that flash in the pan QB who will come in and immediately make the franchise awesome. But there aren't many Andrew Lucks out there...and even ones with the most promise, a la RG3 or Cam Newton, don't seem to be able to provide that kind output (at least consistently). And they were certainly WAY more polished talents than Cardale is now.
It's a gamble both for him and for teams drafting him (if he leaves).

Jamarcus Russell part II - lots of talent, kind of a dumbass

Cardale doesn't have anywhere close to feet or balance of Big Ben or Cam
Why is Cam being compared to Big Ben? Cardale is much, much closer to Big Ben's skill set than he is to Cam's.
I think people are overestimating how important experience is to NFL executives. Colt McCoy was a 4-year starter at Texas and was 45-8, yet he wasn't drafted until the 3rd round. AJ McCarron was drafted in the 5th round.
Matt Cassel and Bryce Brown never started a game and were drafted in the 7th round.
Bottom line, if he gets a grade of 1st or 2nd round, I think he should go.
If not, he should come back. The fans will be calling for him the second Barrett stumbles. The only potential issue is that Barrett could come back for his redshirt Junior year in 2016 and Cardale would be fricked.

Jamarcus Russell clone
Jones has more desire to succeed. JR seldom attempted to run until the latter part of his last season. I agree, JR is the closest in physical stature and arm strength. I suspect that Jones is much more dedicated to his craft.

True, he is not a Jamarcus close either because this guy can actually run.
Wtf JR was a good runner
He just didn't often. Different era

If he goes pro, I could see the Patriots taking a flyer on him. They don't need a signal caller right away and it would scratch BB's itch to prove to everyone he is the smartest guy in the room.

I thought he looked like a Ben Roethlesberger last night. Fun to watch too. Also, someone called him a dumbass in this thread, dafuq? The kid seemed genuine and sounded like a young leader in his post-game interview. Handled himself well.
Edit: Didn't realize he was the one who tweeted that he went to college to play football, not to play school. Kind of a dumbass confirmed.

But that was from almost 2 1/2 years ago I believe... So he could have matured

Cardale Jones has an arm that reminds me of JaMarcus. It feels like he can throw it as far as he wants. 50 yard throws are effortless.

Not that I know much about JaMarcus' time in Baton Rouge, but Cardale Jones has faced so much adversity in his life and playing career to the point that he almost didn't even make it to Ohio State. He has had to earn everything he's gotten in life and his football career.
And then the tweet happened and he had to grow up big time and mature to get where he is now. The first things out of his mouth after the game was that was to give credit to the seniors.
2011 Cardale Jones doesn't even think about that kind of thing. He has matured to much it's pretty unreal.
I think he has a shot in the NFL under the right tutelage.

Jones needs to go, he'll be 4th round possibly third on a team with picks and a QB.
He is dumb; he tweeted about "why should he go to class", that was very dumb and it makes you wonder what was done to keep him on the team.
He has NFL talent, but he has no real pro skills, meaning in Meyer's offense he doesn't take snaps under center, and he probably is not a grinder which is what it takes to be successful as an NFL QB. He is a slower version of Kaepernick and that is slowly souring. Don't get me wrong, he can throw, but he has pro receivers, and he was extremely lucky. That back shoulder throw was all the receiver. He still shows poor decision making which is understandable with his experience. If I am him and the desperation for QB's in the NFL. I take the shot. I have no doubt school is not his first priority and if I am Meyer, do I really want the headache of two winning QB's on the roster. He can call Miles and see how not to handle that situation.

Cardale to LSU, Braxton to FSU, Barrett to the Browns.

He was a freshman who had a 3.0 at a highly regarded educational institution.
You're kicking people off the team for tweets now?
He's actually a really smart guy.

If you give Tom Brady JaMarcus Russell's body, he's easily the best player of all-time. No contest. Could make every throw. And had the prettiest long ball I've ever seen.
Hell. Give Chad Pennington JaMarcus' body, and we are witnessing greatness.

I meant his upbringing, off the field issues, etc.

how would you rank the swag factor of your three QBs?
Posted on 1/13/15 at 12:54 pm to Tiger Ryno
Cardale has more swag than Braxton and JT combined.
