You remind me of the guy in FFB who drops good players after week one to pick up no-names because they had a good week.

I think Jones should go Pro, big upside. If he has a good combine/pro day, I think a team should take a flyer on him in the 3rd/4th round.

Someone like Zona/Houston or maybe a team who could use a QB in 2/3 years like Denver/Saints.

Heck Chicago, Washington and the Browns looks like they need QB now.

At the end of the 2003 season, people thought that Justin Vincent was the next great RB.

Based on his size and speed, I think people thought he would be a good college back, but I never saw a true NFL RB. I saw a guy who hit a HR run every now and then.

plus, you can't really predict who will get fat and quit caring about football.

I'm not saying the guy is a sure thing or will even be a good pro.

I'm saying based on this weak QB class (IMO), he has the most physical ability and highest upside.

He would be a good pick to sit for a year or two and then see what he can do.

Cardale really needs to capitalize on his season and go pro. His draft stock will never be as high and people are willing to overlook his flaws due to a 3 game sample size showcasing his upside.

All bad fits for him except the Broncos/Saints. He will fail like JR if he starts right away.

What flaws do you see?

I mean, his footwork needs work and he tends to try to go for the deep ball a bit much. I'm just curious to get an OSU perspective.

Yes. He needs to sit behind an established QB. Maybe even go to the steelers.

He'd be an idiot for going back where he's not even guaranteed to be starter.

Experience. And with that comes reading coverage, audibles, etc. In these three games he was damn near the biggest guy on the field and could just truck guys, that won't be the case in the NFL.

He really is Roethlesberger 2.0

Although I'd argue Cardale made Urban's offense better. It forced him to feed Elliott more and rely less on the QB run.

JT is the starter. Sorry Braxton and Cardale.

True, but I was impressed with how few mistakes he made agaisnt an oregon zone D in making his throws.

His lack of experience would kill him if he was expected to start right away, but I think him sitting for a year or two like Rodgers would do wonders.

Hell sitting behind Big Ben for 3 years would be incredible for his future.

Denver might need a qb next year. I don't know many people who have confidence in Brock Osweiler.

I think Cardale should go pro. Strike while the iron is hot. You'd hate to be the next Kenny "Trill" Hill who was the heisman frontrunner after his first 3 games.

Winston: Cardale is much calmer under pressure than Winston IMO and has a stronger arm. Plus, I'm not sure that Winston is as teachable as Cardale. Winston's baggage certainly doesn't help.

Overall, I'd still like to see more from Cardale before answering the question in the OP, but you make some strong points here.

Here is a big question about Winston -- How will he handle losing? 26-1 record in college as a starter. That's incredible, but things are going to be different in the NFL. And the way he blew up at Jimbo in the Rose Bowl was disturbing. That kind of thing is destructive to the morale/energy of a team, especially when things are not going well. I would need to be assured that he's moved beyond that type of thing before I really felt comfortable about drafting him.

He really does not run that well, although he did run better in this championship game. He's a big dude so hard for college guys to bring him down, but he sure is slow.. especially against Alabama he was sooo slow.

I agree, I think it would be best for his career to sit 2 years.

I am just saying I could see one of those QB needy teams taking a chance on him in the 3rd/4th. There are a lot of teams that need a QB
