You had to really, really try hard to get below a 1.5 when I went to public HS in BR in the late 90's. I mean really try hard.

And let's remember, that fat count Charlotte placide never taught a day in her frickin fat count life.
Warren actually walked the walk.

I saw drake on channel 9 news earlier, he was happy about the upcoming school year. Yet he wants to lower gpa for sports. Sports and other activities that are after school and held on school grounds are privileges and not for everyone. It has to be earned.

I've read it once yesterday and read it again. I'm against it. High school these days is watered down anyway. A 1.5 gpa is unacceptable.

It needs to stay as a 2.0 if not 2.5.

Maybe the children should shut up and listen to the teacher and learn. It's not hard.

As a former middle school and now highschool teacher at low income, high minority's, very athletic driven schools I can attest that having a 2.0 minimum helped motivate student athletes tremendously. Sure, there were a few who couldn't keep it but frick... Dropping the requirements to Half D's half C's is ridiculous, especially considering PE and an elective or two or automatic A's. That means they can fail a few classes have a couple D's and a few automatic A's and they are eligible?! And trust me, you have to do absolutely nothing to get an F in EBR. As a teacher principals make it rather clear that you are not allowed to fail students. I hated Taylor and was excited about Drake coming in but this is absurd. And the fact he criticizes the current policy while admitting he has no idea of it worked or not is absurd.

Drake needs all hands on deck.

Have you ever coached? You know how bad it sucks for school/student/community moral when the stud running back, or qb, can't play because of a grade in one class?

Let's be honest, Drake isn't about to create a stable of athletes comming out of EBR, he's trying to fix a system that is broken, that dgaf, that is disengaged, that is morally and financially bankrupt, and that has nothing at stake to gain, or lose.

And keep in mind. It isn't just sports. It's all extracurricular activities. If it can keep even a few extra kids in school and out of trouble. It worked.

I understand there needs to be privileges. But we aren't talking about kids who are motivated by a support system of parents and family.

Yall think that is something? You only need to pass 6 classes to be eligible in Tangi parish. That means all D's and 1 F and you are eligible. Its terrible.

Agree with drake. I'd rather a kid with 1.5 at glen oaks going to practice with Adger each day rather than the kid be on the streets.

I will say that once semi rough kids flunked out of athletes they were pretty much unreachable and the one leash on them was gone. They went down the tube fast. But cmon you taught, how difficult is it keeping a 2.0 as an athlete?

If you care that little you shouldn't be rewarded by being allowed to play.
