I think one can reasonably call him a thug based on those instances.

Fights happen all the time at practice the only reason those two incidents were even news is because of how badly he beat their asses.

I wouldn't consider those "off field" incidents just because they were 50 feet away from that actual field.

He's a thug because he punched someone? You've never been in a fight?

Now if this is true, this one outburst seems justified.

Do you know what was said the other times? Or are you assuming that he just snuck someone?

Steve Smith doesn't get in fights. He simply knocks dudes out.

what was more count-like was celebrating when bradford went down with the ACL.

Mitchell was celebrating the instant the play was over... he had no idea what Bradford's condition was.

Talk about your count-like.

(Oh, by the way, earlier in the game Rams DE Quinn hurt Newton who WAS walking off the field for the temporary injury and Quinn was talking shite to Newton and the Panthers as he was walking off. Sorry, Rams, that your QB is a fricking piece of crystal and breaks when the Turf Gremlin looks at him cross-eyed.)

Lots of rustled jimmies.

Smith is one to talk but if Jenkins did say stuff about Smith's wife, then he deserves all shite coming his way.

I like Steve Smith quite a bit and don't think "thug" is the right term but there is a pretty clear history of anger issues. In the two well publicized cases, this is not accurate:

quote:

Fights happen all the time at practice the only reason those two incidents were even news is because of how badly he beat their asses.

He didn't just "beat their asses." By many accounts, he sucker punched the guy in the film session.

In any case, I'm surprised the majority of this thread has been spent arguing about whether Steve Smith is a thug or not, rather than focusing on the many awesome quotes he gave during his interview. Smith came off like an angrier Kenny Powers.

On the field steve smith is one of the most competitive players you will ever see. He has has some anger problems ON THE FIELD but he is far from a TPOS. By all accounts off the field he is a good family man and leader in the community. If you want to call people thugs I would aim the insults to the players with drugs issues, dui, and multiple illegitame kids. This is akin to calling Hines Ward a TPOS because he used to blow people the frick up on the field. Get a more fitting insult people
but he's black and guys aren't intelligent enough to think for themselves or any differently than all of the other fools out there, so they stick with the usual, unoriginal TPOS.
