I'd take Martinez over anyone in your rotation. Reyes was impressive after his callup. I like the future of the rotation.

I agree with a lot of what you're saying but the caveat of all of it is that Mo is calling the shots and he's going to have to show that he's willing to make a big move.

They need to move Lynn, Rosey, Gyorko, and bring something back in the form of a power bat for the middle of the lineup moving forward or STL is going to be staring up at the others in the division for a while. Their pitching is obviously a bright spot for the future but when you play that game you're just an injury away from being mediocre again (see: NYM).

That's not my argument. He's pitched well and has great stuff. Id take him too over anyone we have for the future. But frick, the guy isnt Max Scherzer.

That's the big thing and I think he just doesn't get it.

He's really made only three 'big' trades in 10 years. Traded for Matt Holiday, traded for Heyward, and traded Rasmus away.

They need someone like Ozuna or Yelich badly, but I don't think Mozeliak has the balls.

Now if they trade for Josh Donaldson, I'll just throw in the towel and be done watching.

One of the writers for the StL paper had a good write up on them a couple weeks back. Basically, their entire lineup is meh and there aren't one or two spots where they can improve a lot over what they have with what's probably available.

They need to blow it up and clean out their roster of some of these interchangeable guys. Everybody else who is good now wasn't in the last few years for a few years.

I agree. I only follow the Cards in passing because my fathers side of the family is from there, but if they throw it all away for Donaldson in a year where they're not going to win it anyways, I'll just stop following them

That's fair. He's still young, so I think he will get even better. It took Scherzer 5-6 years and a trade before he became an ace.

Rosenthal forgets to cover the damn bag on the game winning hit. It's ridiculous how lackadaisical this team is on the field. It is time for a new voice in the clubhouse, but I don't see it happening.

It's not all his fault. But the team has gotten progressively worse with him. And shows no signs of getting better.
