Yeah there isn't really much to it. If you want to analyze it then it is just classic King injecting himself into the moment but who gives a shite...making everything about him is just who he is.
Putting a little thought into it, I think it is in poor taste. If it wasn't a talking point in this thread I would have never seen it or given it second thought.
Not inflammatory, but if you put some thought into it it IS kinda shitty if you're a sensitive type.

It's a really narcissistic post. Was there anything wrong with what he said? No. But it doesn't give a favorable impression of him to me.

That's fine. I also think Peter King is a douche, but I just think this is a nitpicking example.

Exactly. We're talking about Peter King...of COURSE he meant to inject himself into the story. It isn't really offensive or anything, just kinda shitty. His comments didn't come off as really bad or anything but they for sure weren't good. Saying "condolences to the Maisel family" would have been perfect...there was no reason for him to bring it up as it can't be taken in a positive light.

It is nitpicking but his comments had zero shot at being taken positively. At the VERY best it is overlooked and nobody gives a shite. BUT it is Peter King and people pay attention. I don't give a shite either way but there was NOTHING positive that could come out of his statement.

Yup. We're on the same page here.

King is a douche but not because of this post. #findmax

Ya it's not like he's going to be disciplined for that tweet. I would have a serious problem if he was disciplined.

Eh...sorta. I don't think it has anything to do with being PC. It has everything to do with being a classless and self-centered jackass that had to inject himself into the story.
His comments won't keep me up at night by any means BUT if you take a minute to analyze it then it looks pretty shitty.
But that's who King is so who gives a frick.
ETA:

"1 million seems like such a big number. I can't imagine how big 999 quintillion is."
People are acting like he said, "I lost my daughter for 3 minutes in a mall, so I have been through this before."
Its Peter King. That's EXACTLY what he said.

Criticizing people for being classless is pretty much what politically correct is.
Not in this case, but oftentimes "classless" people are the most innovative. We need more of those people these days.

Then we have different definitions. PC to me is going out of your way to not offend someone. It is dancing around an issue and making excuses. The complaints I've seen in here lean more to the "kind of a shitty thing to say" side of things. Again, it isn't WHAT/HOW he said as much as it is WHY he said it. It had zero purpose. No good could come of his comment. You can't rationalize it.
Class = what you say. "prayers for the Maisel family" is classy here. He didn't do that.
PC = how/why you say it. King didn't sugarcoat anything here, he just related to a trivial situation he experienced. I'm not seeing the PC angle here.
At least IMO.

Sometimes they're classy. That has nothing to do with the discussion. A guy has no idea where is child is or if he is alive. King saying, "i know the feels" has no positive impact on Maisel or his situation. THIS cast isn't about being PC, its about not being a self-centered dick and showing some sympathy without inserting yourself into those sentiments. Just a case of decency.

This. King is saying he lost his mind when he couldn't find his child for 3 minutes - much less a couple of days like Ivan Maisel.

Maisel posted this today... nothing has changed.

Yep, found the body. Wow I had no idea it was Ivan Maisel's son.

I'll pray for the family's comfort, but I'm thankful they can at least start the road toward closure. The list of questions has been dramatically reduced.
