It was a pretty fricking awesome game if you watched.

Mexico was hanging on by a thread and needed 6 saves by their goaltender, one fantastic was fantastic and 3 were point blank very solid saves.

It was a great game, and the first time Brazil has reliquished a result against a non-European or South American team in World Cup play which is remarkable.

Couple that with the fact that Mexico was playing horrid soccer for the better part of two years before the Cup and it made for an awesome 0-0 tie.

But as I said earlier, you can't force the great game of soccer on anyone. They have to embrace it on their own.

So Brazil could only manage to get six shots on target in 90 minutes of play?

It really was.

It's unfortuante that someone is trying to use this game to further the 0-0 ties suck agenda.

They had 14 shots and 8 on goal with 6 saves which is a large number. Especially with as high quality as the oppourtunities were.

You don't understand that, and I get it. You're not a soccer fan and no one will make you one. Which is also just fine.

But it was a really awesome game for those that understand and enjoy the game.

It ended 0-0, right? Did two shots hit the post?

This is the definition of a shot on goal:

quote:

Any time a player makes an attempt to take a shot that does or would
enter the goal is considered a (SOG). This includes shots that bounce off the
goals, shots stopped by a defender, or shots saved by a goalkeeper.

It was most likely blocked by a defender in the course of play but would have either been a save or a goal if it wasn't blocked.

Stop assuming. I'm referring to Michael Vick.

Should have been more clear.

Yeah, what Michael Vick did was wrong, but still not as bad as what you see at these games. The racism, the fighting, etc

And SCH, since you live in Europe...you telling me that you like soccer better than rugby?

I agree with this right here.

How many truly exciting plays happen in a baseball game?

I would say over/under 10.

This whole "do you like or dislike soccer" debate is really getting old. If you like soccer, great, watch it. If you don't like soccer, great, don't watch it.

What is the point of arguing why you do or don't like it?

I think the main thing casual fans don't understand is the build-up of play that creates excitement.

Goals have the potential of happening at any moment with either a supremely good pass and first touch or a tactical error from the defense or a combination of the two.

Building up pressure outside of the box is an exciting moment and isn't really treated as such by casual fans IMO.
