After she called/text him 50+ times asking him to take her back, and she harassed other women he had seen to tell them to stay away. And the NFL was apparently, somehow, unaware of this.

Dis gon be gud

Keep in mind this is AFTER he supposedly beat her mercilessly for 5 days in July.

It seems they really picked the wrong case to send a message with.

Goodell blows but is beating a crazy bitch more acceptable than beating a sane woman?

The implication would be that a woman pressing criminal charges against a man for assault and battery wouldn't be QUITE so anxious to get him back 6 weeks later. This wasn't a chronically battered woman who lied for her husband for years, this was a 20 year old who claims she got hit over the course of several days and then quickly reported him to police. It's just very suspicious.

The fact that the NFL didn't know about his despite their "extensive" investigation is the bigger story though.

They should have stuck to his conduct was a detriment to the league. They had more than enough of that to give him 2-4 games

I thought I read that there were texts from her threatening to ruin his life if he didn't stop cutting her out. Either way, the NFL fricked up suspending someone in a case where the facts aren't settled.

In NFL doesn't need a reason to suspend anyone. I wouldn't get your hopes up on appeal

Sorry I read through the story twice and saw nothing about how the NFL was unaware of this. Is that your takeaway or did I miss it?

It's being reported Goodell and league office took this information into consideration, but didn't believe it merited enough individual credit to outweigh what they felt was the totality of their case.

The totality of their case was that since Elliott and his attorney couldn't prove that he didn't do it, that meant he did it.

Also, Goodell never met with Tiffany Thompson or any of the hearings with Elliott

Weird how the commissioner who set the punishment isn't even really involved.

This is going to be yet another black eye for the NFL

This is like watching your son make the same mistake you did at the same point. I hope you guys take Goodell to the frickin cleaner, but it doesn't matter what kind of ammo you got, Goodell has a bomb shelter named the CBA that lets him do this shite without reprecussion.

this is funny but there's some truth to it. The way Goodell inconsistently punishes players sends a ripple through corporate sponsors, ticket prices, betting sites, etc. The NFL needs a more structured and predictable punishment system.
