People won't make a big deal about removing a player from the Hall, though there was suggestions of it for OJ. But putting someone in who already has that rap sheet, that isn't going to happen.

Of course it's not going to happen. That doesnt make it right. If you were a good enough player to get into the HOF, you should be in, period.

Based on his merits he was borderline at best. But he's not getting in. There's no debate, not as long as there are human beings voting.

You mean one they know about when elected?

Would you bet your life there's not one in already?

I don't think so. Doesn't mean they shouldn't.

If you go by the numbers, Sharper is arguably a top 5 safety of all-time. Only Lott, Krause, Reed, Renfro and Cornell Green are ahead of him in career approximate value. He absolutely should be a HOFer. A lot of the players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame are complete scumbags anyway. Why should it matter if one more is added?

The NFL won't take that PR hit

He was a HoFer before the charges and arrest. Not now of course, it would be a PR holocaust.

And Peter King sucks. You could even call him the Peter King.

Yeah the hall should go by what you remember and not what actually happened.

Who did he rape?

He paid a hooker that was like 16 or 17. He claims he didn't know (which he probably didn't).

Why not? The WWE hof has several murderers (Jimmy Snuka, Scott Hall, Carlos Colon come to mind).

The argument that POSs were previously inducted is not an argument that the Hall should continue to induct POS.

I would argue that argument is fundamentally similar to not updating the statistics required for entry, even though the game changes over time. Which as we know, is not what happens.

The Hall has every right to make moral character a bar to entry if it so chooses. This does not require that it systematically review previous entrants, though again, it could if it so chooses.

Sharper's pick-sixes against the Jets and Dolphins made a big difference in the outcome of the 2009 Saints season. Without those wins, the Vikings get HFA and the Saints don't go to the Super Bowl, much less win it.

That's a BIG difference.

That being said, I think he was a borderline case and he won't sniff it now. INTs alone aren't the indicator of greatness as a DB. If it did, Ken Riley would be in the HOF. It could just mean they throw at you a lot.
