Should baseball just do away with the draft or have stricter international rules

Since baseball is becoming very popular in Asia and Latin America and is being introduced in more countries the talent pool is increasing
I guess there is a 16 year old pitcher in Brazil that MLB teams are salivating over. Sounds familiar to the Micheal Ynoa story about 10 years ago.

Why should international players fall under different rules than American born players.
If a 16 year old kid in Brazil can be given this huge contract why not some 16 year old from Louisiana or California be given this much as well

Given the heavy influence of Latin players in the MLB, it surprises me that more college baseball coaches don't go after these kids much like college basketball coaches do.

Cant get them eligible probably and if they are coming off the island it is for a pay increase not same or lower.

getting them into school would be an issue.

Because the idea is that college baseball offers the incentive of a college education behind baseball and the professional game offers money, woman and material objects.
Maybe they both do at certain places but a kid in the Dominican cares much more about quick money than his future or maybe his handlers do.
A lot of times these kids already have agents

This. Most of these guys have an eighth grade education and can barely speak English and people expect them to be accepted into college? Really?

Matters what country you speak of
I doubt in Asia they have a 8th grade education but I think that the Japanese players cannot go to the MLB out of high school.
Brazil and Venezuela might have higher education standards than the rest of Latin America

In the near future they will have two drafts. The current one and an international draft.

Why would MLB get rid of the draft?

That's the dumbest shite I've read in the last 6 months on this board, easily.

Can someone give me cliff notes on how the processes are different? American kids get drafted, but international players do not?

If MLB wants to go the way of European soccer and allow teams to create camps or farm teams in other countries they may go this way
I was not promoting either way but was saying the current system needs to be fixed
The idea of the two draft process may work as well

Is?

You mean has been.

Asia has had a strong history of baseball going back to the 19th Century.

The popularity of the sport is spreading even more in Asia.
It was always popular in Japan and then Korea

Now you can include Taiwan and Mainland China.
Taiwan for sure. Mainland China took to basketball much more than baseball but still baseball has pockets of popularity

Boras must hate the new draft rules, costing him money.

Now you can include Taiwan? Not to beat a dead horse but most of Asia has long been into baseball including Taiwan.

Japan introduced baseball to Taiwan in 1895 when they occupied it.

Remember all those LLWS Titles Taiwan won in the 1970's and 80's dominating everyone in the US?

Introduction and popularity are two different things.
Soccer was introduced into the United States the same time as the rest of the would but really did not become anything until the 70's and become popular until the 90's

Go back to how the NHL was ran with the Original 6
