Weren't y'all crying about the weather when a Will Muschamp led UF team spanked your garbage arse team in Jacksonville a couple years ago?

Bama doesn't do home and home anymore. They are not as financially rewarding as neutral sight games. They do open with USC in Dallas next year though. The teams out west kind have of have small stadiums and there are only maybe 3 name programs out west. Most of the marquee teams worth playing are in the South or Midwest. Those seem to be the regions where people take their football seriously.

Think about how many of the high paying bowls are located in SEC states.

Sugar, Orange, Cotton, Peach, Citrus, Outback, Texas, Music City, Gator, Alamo, Sun, Russell all have a payout over $2 million.

Bowl games not located in the SEC states that pay over $2 million Rose, Fiesta, Holiday, TicketCity.

Not sure.... The SEC wants to continue with the Big Ten.... BUT IF the SEC is gonna keep doing this they MUST try o get a LSU vs. Michigan Bowl game... A ratings bonanza this year had they put LSU instead of FLA playing Mich.. But they could have some nice matchups with PAC-12...

With all of the changes they made with the bowl conference affiliations I don't see how this wasn't an obvious change.

Tennessee has always played PAC 10-12 teams. I remember in the 80's them playing Washington St, USC, UCLA, and Cal numerous times. They've also played Oregon, Colorado, and Utah over the years.

College football just isn't important out west. There are 3 bowl games out west that are worth the cost of travel for most SEC teams.

Since 1980 in the past 35 years, LSU has played 13 games against the current Pac12

Washington X3
Oregon St X3
Arizona X3
USC
Colorado
Oregon
Arizona State

LSU won all 13 games.

LSU has played great against the Pac-12.

Tennessee and Auburn not so much.

Especially Tennessee which really has flopped out west the last 15 years.

Washington gave LSU a tough game in Seattle...

But LSU's real escape from death miracle win was beating Oregon State at home because the Beavers had a kicker who couldn't make extra points.

The dude missed 3 extra points and Oregon State lost by 1 point.

Btw, once again living up to their historic reputation for never wanting to leave their home state, Georgia this year traveled the least of all SEC teams.

Georgia's longest road trip was 618 miles.

LSU traveled the most. Their longest road trip was 2,400 miles.

Most SEC teams just don't travel to the Mountain or Pacific time zones.

Going out west?

The last time Florida went out West - it was 1983 at USC.

South Carolina? - They played at Hawaii in 1981.

Vandy? - They played at Air Force in 1979.

Since 2000, the SEC is 12-13 against Pac-12 teams and 3-8 at Pac-12 stadiums.

But nothing is really changing with both conferences in trying to meet up more.

They are scheduled to play 22 games in a 13-year period from 2015 to 2027. The conferences played 22 regular-season games over 13 years from 2002 to 2014, so the number of times they're going to play in the future is the same, at least at the moment.

LSU also had the shortest road trip when they played the Gamecocks.

Auburn's sample size is awfully small to make a judgment. We played USC in 02 and 03 and lost both with two mediocre AU teams. Then beat Oregon in the national championship. So 1-2 in the past 15 years isn't enough to make a sensible conclusion one way or the other

Yeah, I guess it was just that Auburn started the season ranked #6 in the polls.

But lost to USC 23-0 and Georgia Tech 17-3.

But beat Top 10 ranked UT and Arkansas the following weeks.

I wish there was a tie in. Locations and concerns with travel are the main reasons there is not

Decades ago it used to be that SEC teams would play in the Rose Bowl, the novelty of a great and rarely seen interconference matchup (outside of the college playoff) would be a nice change.

ETA: could and sometimes did would be a better word choice than "would"

So, you're stupid and not well traveled in this country.

There's a reason, well 2, I tell my family in NOLA I don't visit from May til end of September.

Perfect weather....

Rose Bowl games sort of sucked in the 80's/90's - bunch of mediocre teams or one team having to play nobody. There were a few quality top ranked matchups but most of the time it was Michigan coming out West to lose and lose and lose again.

It was boring. Bo sucked against Pac-10 speed.

#1 Michigan played #8 Wazzu and Ryan Leaf to win the national title - that was sort of lame (not as lame as BYU playing 8-4 Michigan in the Holiday Bowl to win the national title) but lame enough.

The Rose Bowl game was the shite though in the 50's, 60's and 70's - the Pac10 and Big10 were always the top ranked teams in the whole damn land...or at least both Top 5 teams.

I wish the Rose Bowl would just become an open invite outside of the playoff. I know SEC teams have for years grown a small-dick syndrome all these past 50 years because they were never invited to the Rose Bowl - and well, that's just mean.
