I do agree on McCarthy, though. Rodgers is crazy good.

Huh? Even before Rodgers started, McCarthy got the Pack to an NFC Champ. game in his 2nd season. Hell, they were shite in 2005 with Sherman, but were better at 8-8 the next year, and then had a great year after that.

McCarthy is a very good coach.

Bullshite

Buddy Ryan gets all the love but before he was hired by Ditka...that team was garbage on both sides of the ball...

Ditka shaped, drafted and transformed that team two years before the BEARS 86 D.

McCarthy is handicapped by a mediocre (at best) GM. The Packers always sign overrated defensive players like Clay Mathews, AJ Hawk, and BJ Raji and have never given Rodgers an O line. It's like they're trying to build a fantasy football team.

Yes, he has a future HOFer in Rodgers, but if every coach that had a HOF QB was overrated then the vast majority would be considered as such.

Thompson is one of the better GMs in the league. He drafted Rodgers, cut the cord with Favre at the right time, and completely built the team that won the 2010 Super Bowl.

People forget that during that 2010 Super Bowl run, the Packers lost like a third of their starters to injury at some point in the season but kept chugging along because they had a ton of depth from Thompson's drafting. That year they lost Al Harris before the season and went on to lose Nick Barnett, Brandon Chillar, Mark Tauscher, Brady Poppinga, Justin Harrell, Derrick Martin, Jermichael Finley, Mike Neal, Morgan Burnett, Spencer Havner, Brad Jones, and Josh Bell.

I'll certainly give you that he played the Favre/Rodgers deal perfectly, but I truly believe that Rodgers is so good that he turns a decent team into contender, despite the lack of talent on the defense and o-line, which is Thompson's department

Tom Coughlin is not a great coach. I think he is BARELY a good one. I really don't get the love at all.

He consistently has mediocre at best teams.

Coughlin got Jacksonville into the AFC Championship in two seasons and kept them competitive for a while. He didn't pull a Carolina and have All-Pro veterans land in his lap. They actually built a real contender.

Ditka inherited Payton, Gary Fencik and Dan Hampton, among others. I think Ditka and Ryan needed each other. You see what they did separately with crap when Ditka was in New Orleans and Buddy Ryan was in Arizona without a Hall of Fame defensive line.

8 years. 4 of them were losing seasons (3 of which after they "got good"). And one of those winning seasons was 9-7. So he went 4-12, 9-7, 11-5, 11-5, 14-2, 7-9,7-9, 6-10. Pretty damn mediocre.

In NYG he's gone: 6-10, 11-5, 8-8, 10-6, 12-4, 8-8, 10-6, 9-7, 9-7, 7-9.

I'm just not impressed by him. His teams DO overachieve in the Playoffs, which is obviously a sign of good coaching. He's a good postseason coach. Just not impressed with him as a consistent coach.

Jacksonville played in a sick division. Tennessee at their peak, Baltimore with Ray Lewis, Bill Cowher's Steelers. Then they got moved to the South and got stuck with Peyton Manning's Colts.
