Seahawks QB Russell Wilson isn’t worth $100 million

There are currently 10 NFL players who have multi-year contracts worth $100 million or more – seven are quarterbacks and four average at least $20 million per season.
Based on some recent analysis on the historical relationship between quarterback performance and salary, and after adjusting for the rise of the salary cap, we can estimate Wilson’s market value using win probability added. Specifically, teams spend $1 million for every 0.18 in WPA a quarterback generates. Including the playoffs, Wilson has produced 9.04 WPA in three years, so he has created $9 million in value, for which he was paid a little over $2 million, leaving the Seahawks with $7 million in surplus value. To justify a $20 million (or more) annual salary, Wilson would have to produce 3.6 WPA each season — a mark he has topped just once (2012) and come close to one other time (2014). Surprisingly, the year the Seahawks won the Super Bowl was Wilson’s least productive season.
Over the past three seasons, being in the top five for WPA has carried an average cap hit of $27.2 million, while a ranking of six to 10 has been valued at $16.6 million. Wilson ranked seventh in WPA after the 2014 season — and that includes his playoff performance — placing his value closer to $17 million.

He would get $100 Million+ on the open market.

I think he might get 100 million on the open market.

He is. And then the defense can struggle. Happens every time a QB signs a huge contract. Defense suffers.

So the black quarterback can't get a 100 million dollar contract but white quarterbacks who are worse than him can. Give Wilson a wr like Dez Bryant or Odell Beckham and watch and see what he does. He is better than Romo and Eli but don't have the weapons they have had.

I think it's more of a give Eli a defense like Russell. O wait he did. And won it all.

He would get 100 million on the open market four times over.
It's the going rate for most starting competent qbs now

I've honestly never heard wilson being called black.

Compare the records and get back to mE.

Compare the records when Eli has a defense close to as good? 2 for 2? Russell 1 for 2? Russell has never had to deal with leading his entire team. Always had the defense lead. Once he signs a big contract we will see.

No player or team of players is worth anywhere near that amount of money. But it's all about the market so common sense doesn't really matter.

1) Russell Wilson is black?
2) no one says he can't get 100 million dollar contract. He will. Just that it's a dumb move.
3) everyone killed the Joe Flacco contract.

This:
Contradicts this:
The demand for starting NFL QBs is so high that in free agency teams are willing to spend big bucks because they are so rare. Econ 101

Difference between market value and value to a team though.
Market value only applies to what he is worth to the league as a free man. Smart teams compare players to their value within their organization, not to what the market will pay, which for some players, those numbers can be drastically different.

Good. I hope Seattle matches it. When they do, the seahawks will become irrelevant.

I have no idea what you're trying to say.
He's worth X amount of money in free agency.
That's his value.
