Watching this guy's pro day film is extremely impressive. He isn't the raw guy with a big arm or a system player like so many QBs who are picked high are. This guy has every tool in his bag and can make every throw, if he can develop some semblance of sanity he's going to be one of the elites.

It was only meant as an aside. Ignoring the off the field stuff he's going to have to show better decision making on the field as well before I'm convinced he can be an elite NFL QB. I saw him throw some horrendous picks last year and take some bad sacks as well. No doubt he has all the tools but he could seriously set NFL records INT wise if he makes some of the throws next year in the league that I saw him make at FSU this past season

I agree. He's gonna be a beast and so many people are gonna be furious over it.

His upside is Big Ben and his floor is a bust. I think he's talented but I don't trust his judgment. He played in a weak conference and benifited from playing under Jimbo, who is great with quarterbacks. Personally I think he busts.

I agree. Too many people are too fixated on his post-NCG interview and off-field issues. He's a hell of a lot smarter than most people realize, and has all the physical tools. He also never seems to let the game pressure get to him. He's gonna be a fricking stud if he puts in the work.

I've seen a lot of good QBs throw horrendous picks. Brees and Manning both have had some head scratchers in the past.

fwiw I think Winston will be good but far from elite. At least early on.

I hope he is a success, but I just really don't see it. He looked really good his freshmen season but last year his throws just weren't as crisp, he didn't even feel like the same QB. I think some of the off-the-field stuff got to him, and if he's that mentally weak that it did, the NFL is going to eat him up.

But then my ability to scout football talent is awful, I just know what it looks like to me.

So you're saying he has to improve to be a legit NFL QB? Damn. Groundbreaking analysis right there.

True, he threw a lot of them though. I know at one point late in the season he had the most picks out of any P5 starting QB in the country. It can be fixed but as of right now it's the biggest question mark about his on field play.

Daniel Jeremiah did an entire episode on Jameis Winston. Very good stuff.

ETA: Before everyone pretends to be an NFL scout, listen to the podcast. He goes over his (1) interceptions, (2) throwing motion, (3) off the field issues, (4) character, (5) football smarts, (6) fitness, etc.

He faced a potential rape charge. That's more mentally draining and destructive than starting in the NFL.

Most QBs at the top of the draft didn't turn the ball over at the rate he did last year. Ryan is the only exception I can think of. Being turnover prone is a pretty big issue in my opinion
