Saints Game: QB looks to be giving himself up, defender lays off, QB does not give himself

This is the NFL now. Defenders too scared to hit because of targeting and personal foul rules

Happened last week too

I hope the Saints knock him out of the game before the day is over. I want to see him in concussion protocol.

You should tell yourself that

Interesting take. Ill think about that.

Should still destroy him. A personal foul penalty would've given up a couple inches.

They see what he is doing now. They will hit him and get flagged.

Easy fix. Just like it's a rule where the QB is down when he starts his slide, make the QB down whenever he initiates movement to "give up". Make it reviewable.

It is ridiculous. A running QB shouldn’t get extra protection on sidelines. They use it to their advantage

Was he jogging towards the sidelines, then turned upfield? IMO a QB has way too much protection in that situation. He’s running & fair game. Either get out of bounds or get down.
He is still upright with the ball. I don’t mind protecting QBs, but it has to be offset by something else. He’s down at the point he starts his slide in the middle of the field. He doesn’t take a hit in that situation, but he isn’t awarded any yardage he gains on the slide.
He shouldn’t be allowed to jog a few extra yards near the sideline, or able to walked past tacklers then turn on the jets once he’s past them.

In that situation, the personal foul doesn't hurt you. Should have absolutely lit him up. It is the one place on the field after a first down has been picked up with no downside to committing the foul.
