He could go to Barstool.

Not sure they could pay him, though.

Two guys who largely carry the show alone. Not exactly the same situation.

Right but what's stopping him from going elsewhere and being the lead host of a 2-man show?

To do what, have a podcast?

Like I said, he'd mostly be never heard from again if he did that, comparatively speaking.

I don't think going away and becoming irrelevant is a good backup plan.

I don't think staying and having ESPN sabotage his show on a yearly basis is good for him either.

He can do that, and he can make good money doing that, possibly. But if he does, he'll immediately become wayyyyyyyy less relevant and talked about and seen and heard than he is now.

ESPN is doing a pretty good job of this themselves. SVP->Kanell-> No partner. Pretty obvious what they're trying to do

Kanell was good on the show and I didn't start listening until about 10 months ago and that was luck I found them on tv one day. I listened for a few minutes, entertained and the show became my daily 12-3pm listening/watching.

DK does troll, but laughs at himself alot, and made fun of his NFL football career.

I know ESPN is "cutting everyone" but this a big F.U. to Ryen, who took about three years just to get his name on the show with SVP. Then Ryen selects Danny to be his next radio partner, and Danny is one of the few, if only major radio personality to get canned. I feel like they keep jerking RR around. I do hope he gets a big opportunity outside of ESPN, but who knows if that's available.

Also, don't forget that there was a window in 2015 between when SVP left and before Kanell was brought in where it was branded as "The Russillo Show."

They still could be pairing him with someone else.

Don't look down on podcasts, they're quickly becoming much more relevant than a live show

RR has insinuated several times that he's making good money for the first time in his career, his own words, laughing while saying it but still : " i can finally pay all my bills when they are due". He's not leaving ESPN anytime soon on his own volition. Am sure he will have guests on all the time so it won't be like he's sitting by himself in a chair for 4 hrs.

Kanell wasn't SVP but I grew to like him on the show. He started out as a troll but over time he gave that up and you got to know him. I really enjoyed hearing things from his prospective. Especially things like playing travel baseball on the same team as Arod, Helton and Damon. Like him or not the guy is incredibly humble and doesn't take himself too seriously considering everything he accomplished in his life. If I grew up a rich kid, was a star baseball and football player, played in the NFL and pro baseball, let's just say I wouldn't be anywhere near as humble as he is.

Right exactly.

I exclusively listen to podcasts. I listened to R&K on the podcast, not on the live radio show.

That's an understatement. He was close to SVP. Russillo was great paired w SVP. He wasn't good by himself, and I don't think he and DK completmented each other well at all.

A guy like Adnan kills it will RR. RR needs that stable, more seasoned guy to lead the way imo.

And I could see RR going to somewhere like Barstool, given his roots. Barstool is ever changing and creative, they could think up something for RR and make it work. He could "legitimize" their sport coverage or be their NBA guy or something

I like Russillo, but do not think he has the ability/personality to do a solo show.

I agree but point is, having a show and podcast with espn will give him wayyyyyy more exposure than a podcast with Barstool.

Agrees. I'm basically indifferent listening to him. Not good, not bad, just whatever.

You're totally underestimating how many people reluctantly gave espn ratings to listen to their show. Live sports and R&K were my only reasons for watching/listening to espn and now it's only live sports. I'll still listen to russillo probably but would 100% go out of my way to tune in to him wherever he ended up.
