Have any of you played the trails? Which courses are your favorites, did you lodge there? Planning a trip need some help. There will be 4-5 of us

I'm quite interested as well. The old man and me have been contemplating renting an RV and doing the whole trail

I went on a couple of outings at the RTJ in Huntsville, Hampton Cove I think is the name. They had 2 18 hole and 1 9 hole course as I recall, but I haven't been there for a few years.
Nice courses as I remember. Did not stay on property, not sure it was even an option, but we stayed fairly close by and it wasn't an issue at all.

Can't stay in Huntsville RTJ for sure. Pretty nice courses.

Which one are you playing?

I've played The Judge and Grand National and they both were up there as some of the best courses I've played. From what I understand, they're also the cream of the crop of the RTJ trail.

If you ever go to an LSU game at Auburn or Bama, add an extra day or two on your trip and play one of these courses. It's well worth it.

Not sure yet, live in baton rouge so was looking at the courses by mobile and Montgomery. Actually open to any of them just didn't know much about them. Pictures off the courses on their website look very nice

If the are the nicest I would consider going there and making the extra drive. Definitely would like to make a 2-4 day trip out of this

Montgomery and auburn are great choices

Birmingham's RossBridge is good but the gem is off the trail south of Birmingham - FarmLinks - test facilty, great layout, one price play all day including food and drinks and has great on site lodging

This is the only one I have played and I would suggest trying to get up there after the Bama game. The drive from Tuscaloosa is really easy and decently short. Hell you could probably stay there and just drive down to Tuscaloosa for the game, but driving back Saturday night would be hell.

Of the ones I've played, I'd rank them as such:

1). Grand National (Auburn) - Really strong layout and course

2) Cambrian Ridge (Greenville) - Another good course and layout. The 9th/18th hole double green and gorge that separates the fairways is really cool.

3) Capitol Hill/The Judge (Prattville) - One of the signature courses on the entire trail. The view of the Montgomery skyline in the distance and the Alabama River to the right is really cool.

4) Oxmoor Valley/Ridge Course (Birmingham) - Good course, but not the best layout. Fun course thought with rock formations and lots of elevation drops and nice views. I haven't played Ross Bridge yet but it's close by and is very nice.

5) Hampton Cove (Huntsville) - Good course. Probably the prettiest setting of all the trail courses (along with Silver Lakes near Anniston) and probably worth playing just for the views especially with the leaves starting to change on the mountains around there.

Those are just the ones I've played. They're all solid.

P.S. I think you can buy what they call a 6 pack which is 6 rounds for around $200.

I agree with this list...put the one in Mobile on there...Ross Bridge is the best in B Ham imho.

If limited on time: I'd start in Bham (Ross bridge) or Auburn then go:

Capitol Hill
Cambrian
Magnolia Grove

The Opelika course is the top rated. I haven't gotten to play it yet,

Dothan was the worst one Ive played but oxmoor's valley course is just not a fun course ( love the ridge). We stayed at the prattville Marriott ( the courtyard is right there and very nice) for $89 and then did the golf all day + range balls at the judge for $99 we played the judge in the morning and the legislature after lunch. Very nice courses just realize on the judge you play out on the front 9 and then back there's no turn at the clubhouse and you are along the Alabama river which makes for so,e amazing holes but it can be hot and humid depending on when you go.

I haven't played magnolia grove but the Marriott there is a resort its very nice ive stayed there and that course has very positive reviews. You could start at magnolia grove, drive up to prattville and. Or you could do Ross bridge one day and the judge the next.

I think if you play a combination of grand national, the judge/legislature, Ross bridge and magnolia grove you'll be very pleased.
