Over the weekend, it was reported that Richard Sherman allegedly took a self-titled Black Lives Matter activist to task after said activist posted a picture of Sherman and Marshawn Lynch on his website. In a press conference on Wednesday, Sherman took time to address the post, which he did not write, but also to talk about the Black Lives Matter movement, which ultimately fishtailed into the Seahawks defensive back railing against black on black violence.

“I think as long as we have black-on-black crime and, you know, one black man killing another … if black lives matter, then it should matter all the time. You should never let somebody get killed — that’s somebody’s son, that’s somebody’s brother, that’s somebody’s friend. So you should always keep that in mind.”

What does it say that an athlete said this BEFORE any prominent black leader, or the black President of these United States?

I've been saying that for forever...but I'm a 37 year old white guy.

Basically black lives only mattered when it was a white person, specifically a cop, who killed them. All the hundreds and thousands of other instances where a black kid playing in their yard is killed by a stray gangbangers bullet just spend one day in the news and disappear. No outrage, no marches, no evaluation of racism in the country...nothing.

Reason? Because they have no one but themselves to blame for that. They "raised" the thug that pulled the trigger, so they are responsible. But if someone can ever be blamed, that is not themselves, watch out...

Read about his background. Pretty smart guy. Everyone bases their opinion on that one outburst after the 49er game.

Amazing that basically saying "murder is bad" is a controversial or newsworthy opinion these days

Its a lot easier to cry racism than it is to have some responsibility.

quote:

"I've hated him for years but my moral minimum standard is so low these days that he makes one point about killing people being bad and I know like him"

and all the people on twitter will think
quote:

Cornball brother"
when all he said was
quote:

murder is bad

A lot of you are missing the point. I'm black. If I go out and ruthlessly kill another black man and get caught I will at the very least face murder chargers. People feel as if a white guy does it he could easily walk away without even ever going to trial no matter if he was right or not.

I still like Sherman though as I understand what he is saying but there are lots of movements to try to stop black on black violence. I can speak on LR/NLR specifically.

False.

The vast majority of murders in chicago, for example, are blacks killing blacks.

And the vast majority of them never get solved. A recent study showed only a 26% clearance rate.

LINK

But when its themselves, and their own delinquent children killing their counterparts, who are they going to blame? No one is going to march and say "we're raising murderers! So we are creating our own problem!"

But when it's a white person, they can position themselves as the victim, and disregard the overwhelming percentage of blacks who get killed by blacks for the few who aren't.

Well... yeah, if someone gets murdered there's usually a victim and not necessarily just the person murdered. Are you suggesting that no one should care about someone being murdered? Because it's not as if there are no movements/programs opposing BoB violence headed by black people.

Then again I'm pretty ignorant on the whole #Blacklivesmatter thing so perhaps I shouldn't speak on it.

i find it very ironic that the same demographic who started #blacklivesmatter is the same demographic who uses the saying 'snitches get stitches'

You act like people, including blacks don't condemn Chicago every day. I can't speak for Chicago personally as I am not from there. However LR/NLR I can. Most of the violent crime here is black on black violence(without looking at any official stats) and most people here want it to stop. In LR there is no homicide that has not ended up in a arrest/murder charge so far this year. That is something that is a fact. The last POI/suspect turned themselves in around a week or so ago. There is a prominent movement named after a teenager shot and killled earlier this year(Tank) by a so called friend.
