Remember when the MSB thought it was time for Roy to retire?

why would he, there is no reason to sweat recruiting violations, academic fraud, or any other violations. He has NCAA in his back pocket.

There was a popular thought/meme that he needed to win last year because he was going to get run out of the game and UNC would be hammered. What happened with that?

If ESPN doesn't talk about the academic scandal then it doesn't matter.

Roy is one lucky son of a gun. Basically fell into this stretch of talent because he couldn't beat out Kentucky, Duke, and Kansas for the players they actually wanted.

Ironic, is it not?

Not sure I follow how that would make him lucky.

For all the talk about how crappy of a game day coach he is, that would be pretty impressive to run a program about as successful as those others(since he took over) and doing so with the leftovers that those teams didn't want.

That would insinuate he's doing just as much with lesser players. Not sure how that makes him lucky?

He's getting elite players that aren't elite enough to go pro. Not by design but because they haven't been able to get the best ones.

So the best ones are going to the other 3 schools, and he's still winning just as much though, right?

That seems impressive. I mean, it seems like the 1 and done or 2 seasons and done filled teams are usually the ones most successful. Not sure how many other programs playing this many juniors/seniors are consistently having this type of success he's had since he took over.

Having less talent and still beating the teams with elite talent and this is a knock on Roy?

You think UNC is suffering from lack of talent?

Duke and Kentucky get their talent for a year. UNC gets theirs for 3 or 4 years.

No you were the one that said he is missing out on better talent that he wanted.

Roy wants one and done talent. He can't get it so he ends up with 5* talent that stays for multiple years.

Let me know if you're still confused and I'll simplify it even more for you.

So let me get this straight, he's found a system that helps him get elite talent that stays multiple years, and somehow it's pure luck?

I have no idea if I agree with you or not. But the premise of your original post is pretty easy to grasp

It's a knock on Roy around here because people still believe that Roy Williams was the reason Dale Brown and Johnny Jones got busted by the NCAA. They actually believe that shite.

If it was deliberate then it's a good strategy. But it's not.

If you set out to do something, fail at it, but end up in your desired position or better, what would you call that?

Which is better and more conducive to winning?

Why do the other schools want the 1 and done guys moreso than the guys Roy gets?
