Remember Dan Gilbert helped block the Chris Paul Lakers trade. Now he wants PG

In pretty much exactly the same manner the Lakers got Paul.

When the Lakers got Pau Gasol (at the time considered an extremely lopsided trade) they took on tens of millions in additional salary and luxury tax and they gave up a number of prospects (one in Marc Gasol who may become a max-salary player).
I just don’t see how we can allow this trade to happen.
I know the vast majority of owners feel the same way that I do.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Eric Gordon, Chris Kaman, Aminu and Austin Rivers was a great return!
The only reason that deal doesn't look like a complete disaster is because the ping pong balls fell New Orleans' way.
Imagine how bad that deal would look if they had wound up with Kidd-Gilchrist or Waiters instead.

Instead, Gilbert wants to dump Kevin Love and his $25M per year contract off on someone else, get by far the best player in the deal on a cheaper contract, lose no draft picks because he doesn't have any, and have the third team dump their assets to make it happen for him.

At the time, Eric Gordon looked like a far better centerpiece than anything the Lakers would have been able to offer.

To be honest, that part is entirely correct. Pelicans would have gotten nothing (I'm sure we would have flipped the pieces though) and somehow send the best player but not even get the 2nd best player (Gasol) in return.
That would be equivalent to LA sending Deng, Mozgov, and someone like Russell or Randle for George.
Or Cleveland sending Shump, Thompson, and JR Smith for George.

Gordon looked like a legit star player at the time and Aminu was a decent prospect.
Though looking back I had forgotten that Dragic was part of the deal. Maybe that wouldn't have been so bad after all.

Agree, in hindsight it would have been great.
But this is in 2011.
Up to that point, Dragic was on his 2nd team and was a bench guard averaging 18 minutes, shooting 43.5/36.1/62.4; 7.5 PPG, 2.0 RPG, and 2.9 APG
far from his current 20/4/6 player he is for Miami
