I don't think Gasol is a superstar but he's closer to being one than Horford is

Agreed.

Maybe we just disagree on what a superstar is. Is Joakim Noah a superstar?

Marc Gasol got more all star game votes than Blake Griffin....

No I don't think Noah is either. He teetered on the line last year but has kinda fallen back to earth.

He's more of a superstar than horford but a notch below Gasol imo

He's better than Blake Griffin, and plays a shallow position.

I still don't think he's a superstar, though.

I'm surprised anyone considered Horford a superstar. Gasol has an argument based on how he's playong this year, but still, superstars aren't built on 40 games.

Go win something or do something extraordinary. Then you can be a superstar

Gasol may have more votes than Griffin, but at least he personifies what a super star is

I guess it's just the definition of "superstar".... Would you take maybe the top 5 most popular/best players in a league and consider them a superstar? 10? 20?

I'd say the casual NBA fan or even just the sports fan in general would know who Horford was but couldn't tell you much about him except for maybe where he went to College. No stats or rankings or anything. I wouldn't consider that a superstar by any means.

DPOY? Best record in the NBA since return from injury?

al horford is definitely not a superstar, but you cant even pretend to like the nba if you dont at least know who he is.

Hence the title The Unassuming,Unknown Superstar status of Al Horford

and to anyone who says Marc Gasol isn't a superstar, you are flat the frick out dead wrong.

Not only is he the best center in the game, he's voted in the fricking western conference over Dwight Howard of the Rockets (still a popular team internationally) even though they took centers off the ballot and replaced it with frontcourt players over more well known players Dirk,Tim Duncan and Kevin Durant (and don't give me the line that players who are injured don't get voted in, history will back me up on this).

Since returning from injury last year, Memphis is winning 72% of it's games with him in the line up.

DPOY has a long list of "who da frick". It doesn't deliver much clout for me

As for Griffin playing in LA does help. But he's also played on winning teams, he's won dunk contest, has national ads, and is in top 10 jersey sales every year. He is very much so one of the faces of the NBA

I want them to unban him. He is good for generating NBA discussion. Some good talk between other posters branches off his trolling.

Marketing & popularity certainly are factors of superstardom

Pau Gasol is more of a superstar than Mark
