I think the whole point of the tournament in Toronto next year is have an NHL global tournament that isn't the Olympics. I don't think the owners liked the Olympics and they have to vote to allow the players to play I think.
Yes, and when that tournament is completely ignored by everybody but the hockey community, and as the next Olympics draw closer, the cry will go out from the general populace that the NHL needs to send its players to the Olympics. Olympic officials, realizing all the TV money they receive depends upon figure skating and ice hockey, will cut whatever deal they need to get NHL players so there will be eyeballs on the television sets.

Nashville is the closest team to me, and I am going to try to watch more this year. How are the Preds expected to be this year?

The players will go to the Olympics for the simple reason that the players really want to. The NHL hates it, but the players enjoy the Olympics it seems, and you don't get guys begging out of the teams. As long as the union is negotiating for the Olympics, it's an easy give by the owners to get other concessions.
Stars-Pens should be a blast tonight. Defense optional. There are probably only 4 or 5 teams with a first line that can hope to keep pace with the Pens' top line, and the Stars are one of them. (And the Penguins depth is still terrible).

Agree, while I dont like them in the olympics, I doubt we will ever see the NHL not send players to the olympics.

Where do you live?
Because if you are in Lincoln, I will send some mobbed up guy from Council Bluffs to poison your steak.
If you are in NY area, I will find some Italian WOP with a middle name of "the" to use piano wire as your new bow tie.

I live in Lincoln. Haven't lived in NYS since 2010.
and I never lived close enough to NYC to be in their sphere of influence. I lives in a small town of around 900 in Tioga county.

I never understood his CP31 hate.
and I'm surprised there isn't Fat Bastard in here yet posting meaningless memes.

No if CP31 won it I would be happy, especially as a Hab. I just do not think he can win it. He is a mentally soft goalie in crunch time, proven in the playoffs yearly.
His run from Sochi until the Lightning series was incredible, but he proved he cant take the heat.
If you do not get why I do not like him as a goalie, then you are as dumb as some of these posters say you are. I have never wavered from not trusting him in big situations.

Yep they were waiting to see what was up with Berglund.
This is the best time of the year. College football, pro football, MLB playoffs, NHL hockey, MLS playoffs and European soccer in full swing.

I'll be at the AAC in Dallas tomorrow night to see the best young team in the league take on Pittsburgh.
Frick Crosby and frick Evgeni.

If Nichushkin and Guryanov become studs for Dallas, I will be a huge Stars fan.

Antti Pihlstrom failed to make the Blue Jackets roster and has signed with CSKA Moscow.
Shame. His hands aren't good, but he's the fastest skater in the world and could be useful on a 3rd or 4th line.
Also his nickname in Finnish is "pillu"
