ESPN's "Embrace Debate" strategy is ridiculously successful because White America doesn't understand the concept of trolling.

My favorite takes:

Baylor is 100% culpable and should be nuked from orbit by the feds and NCAA, but UT probably has something to do with this in the end ala SMU.

College softball's postseason is way more entertaining than college baseball's.

The US will continue to be a second-tier soccer country as long as MLS doesn't have relegation. The incentive to train up athletes so their club doesn't die is the most capitalistic thing in sports, I have no idea why the US doesn't embrace it.

If a middle reliever comes in for the 8th and mows them down, LET HIM PITCH THE 9TH. I don't care if he's not your designated closer.

I don't believe in the ironman pitcher style, but this Tony LaRussa micromanaging crap where 5 relievers pitch the last 3 innings is tedious and boring.

Gary Danielson is a fantastic college football analyst.

Tom Ritter was/is a good college football referee. He was just in every primetime game so everyone thought it was rigged.

Scottie Pippen has become overrated.

The 2009 Vikings were just as good as the Saints.

I think Saints fans know how fortunate the Saints were that night.

My unpopular opinion about that is the Saints only got to the Super Bowl because of Brad Childress' stupidity, and the officials gave the two (maybe three) ridiculous calls in OT.

they sure were a tougher challenge than the Colts.

the Saints had good field position in that game either from Minnesota's turnovers or from kick returns. Roby ran one deep to start the 2nd half and set up a score.

the Saints were fortunate to get big contributions in all three phases. Offense, Defense, and special teams. I always thought the return by Roby was one of the biggest plays in the game no one talked about that much.

The ridiculously generous spot on the Pierre Thomas 4th down run in OT is the one that always sticks out to me. That and Favre not running for 7 yards to set up basically a sure FG to win the game in regulation.

Minnesota would have absolutely waxed Indianapolis in the Super Bowl.

LeBron could be the best goalie the World Cup has ever seen.

The NFL HOF is about elite talent so Beast Mode and Brandon Marshall most certainly deserve spots.

The NBA isn't rigged but extremely controlled for ratings. The biggest thing they do is 2 early fouls on X player changing the complete course of the game.

What people forget is that they were already in FG range, and then they had the 12 players in the huddle penalty coming out of the time out, which is completely unforgivable. That led to the Favre across-the-field INT. Hence, Brad Childress' stupidity.

Eddie Hart and Rey Robinson's "outdated schedule" was just cover for them missing the 100m finals in 1972.

They weren't following Tommie Smith and John Carlos's little gesture in '68 by standing under some pasty arse white dude(Valerie Borzov) at the podium just four years later.

Post your Unpopular Sports Opinions Basketball has the best postseason from a neutral perspective, meaning none of your teams are in the playoffs for the 3 major sports. If LeBron wins one more ring, he's the GOAT, if not already there. Cam Newton is the most exciting player in the NFL. I'd rather start my baseball team with Buster Posey than Harper or Trout. Steph Curry isn't the best player in the league, let alone his team. I'd rather have Klay. Tom Brady gets too much credit for his rings, when he's always had a great defense with him. Tony Romo is a top 5 QB. Bo > Deion > Herschel March Madness is better than MLB playoffs. High scoring football games are more fun and entertaining than low scoring football games.

The only thing I agree with is steph Curry. Everything else is like the polar opposite of how I feel.

The Final Four is the most overrated event in sports. It is a glorified semifinal round which is marketed as significant due largely to the alliteration of the phrase. That coaches receive such praise for making it to a round tantamount to conference championship games/rounds in the NFL and NBA is absurd.

Being one of the final four teams in a 30-32 team league with an 8-16 team playoff is not an accomplishment

Being a final four team in a league with over 200 teams and a 64-team tournament is an accomplishment, especially with nobodies from nowhere conferences like VCU, Butler and Wichita State crashing the party.

In that case, only coaches from smaller schools or lower seeds should receive as much credit. The top seeded teams are set up for success. I understand that it's difficult to navigate through the tournament, but more emphasis is placed on the Final Four than the NC game itself.

We put these coaches on pedestals for making it to the semifinal round of a single-elimination tournament where they normally have far more talent than the teams they play. At least the NFL has parity in talent, but not nearly as much emphasis is placed on making it to NFC/AFC championship games.

Tech doesn't lose in overtime to Oklahoma in the Sweet Sixteen, they make it all the way to national championship game and lose to Georgetown.

My dad was on the football team at Tech during that time. He roomed in the athletic dorms across the hall from Malone. So of course, they became friends.

Well, flash forward to this year's LSU football season, Karl comes to our tailgate and the game gets brought up. And him and my dad were talking about it and he, my dad, said "why didn't we have so-n-so guarding tisdale?" (I forget the guy's name he was referring to) and Karl just shoots him a look and says "Oh yeah I guess I must not have been good enough to guard him."

My dad's face went beet red and Karl started laughing his arse off. My dad felt so bad about it though. Karl could just never win the big one.

He did say that Karl Malone was one of the coolest athletes he met at Tech. He said every Sunday night Karl's mom would bring him fried chicken and the entire hallway would smell of some of the best fried chicken he'd ever ate.

I know, csb

He really does. He's huge and not like a Shaq or Charles. He looks like he lifts everyday. Guy's forearms were massive.
