Tony Romo is clutchier than Joe Montana, Roger Staubach, John Elway and Tom Brady.
Combined.

The NFL has become pitch and catch with the neutering of defenses by rules and flags.
In 1989 Steve Largent was the first player with 800 career receptions. Two weeks ago saw Larry Fitzgerald become the 30th player to reach that milestone.

In 1977, Cliff Branch of the Raiders made the Pro Bowl with 33 receptions for 540 yards and 6 Tds.
(Calvin Johnson had almost half of Branch's 14 game season total last week alone.)
How difficult was 1977 to score?
The 1977 Falcons surrendered just 9.2 PPG, or a total of 129 points in the 14-game season...
And failed to make the playoffs.

The Clippers threw more alley oops last year than 28 teams threw in the last two years combined. Denver is the only team that had more in the last two years than LA had last year.

Peyton Manning's mother still shopped for his clothes when he was in his second year with the Colts.

The Detroit Lions have drafted more Heisman Trophy winners than any other team:
Larry Kelley (1937), Clint Frank (1938), Frank Sinkwich (1943), Glenn Davis (1947), Leon Hart (1950), Howard “Hopalong” Cassady (1956), Steve Owens (1969), Billy Sims (1980), Barry Sanders (1989), and Andre Ware (1990).
(including back-to-back Heisman trophy winners)

Doak Walker, Paul Hornung, Roger Staubach, O.J. Simpson, Tony Dorsett, Earl Campbell, Marcus Allen, and Barry Sanders.

Much harder than it is today...In 1978 the NFL instituted the Mel Blount rule which prevented any defensive player from jamming an offensive player five yards past the line of scrimmage. If the defensive player failed to do so, then he would be charged with defensive pass interference.
Now a little trivia to go with this: Blount played his college ball at SU in BR.

Bobby Hebert won the 1983 USFL championship with the Michigan Panthers and was named the games MVP. In his 3 years in the USFL, Hebert completed 773 of 1,407 passes for 13,137 passing yards and holds the USFL record as the all-time leader in passing yardage.

The San Antonio Spurs are the only team in the NBA to have won a championship under the current format by winning every series in the same number of games (6). They did so in the first year the 7-7-7-7 format was implemented (2003) by defeating the Phoenix Suns, then-three-time defending champion Los Angeles Lakers, the Dallas Mavericks, and the New Jersey Nets in 6 games apiece.
The Spurs clinched every series on their opponents' floor except for the Finals against the Nets (due to the now-defunct 2-3-2 NBA Finals format)
