They don't need to retool they need to rebuild. Lebron is the best player on the planet: match him with some good talent. Norris Cole...Birdman...Haslem and Ray Ray aren't gonna get it anymore. And Chalmers might need to go as well

So, you're saying he did get a max contract?

Either you think he did get a max deal or he took a pay cut.

You've been boxed in.

Add Rashard Lewis, Greg Oden and Michael Beasley to that list. When you step back and look at it, the Heat are a mess and Pat Riley knows it! He is begging for LeBron James to stay. He knows Wade isnt opting out and is stuck with that salary. Even the great Pat Riley is getting desperate. If Lebron wants to win, he moves on from Miami.

Cleveland
LA Clippers
Golden State
Washington
Chicago

....all better options for Lebron at this point!

No.

I don't consider than 2011 Mavs a dynasty either.

Even I wouldn't call them a dynasty, and I'm one of the biggest Pistons homers there is.

FWIW, we have 8 pages on this thread when Riley basically said absolutely nothing of note, to be honest.

But if we are looking into it, I do think it felt much less like Riley "telling it like it is" and more of Riley begging or trying to sell Lebron on staying out of fear that he's leaving.

Not saying I think he is going back to Cleveland but your thought process of "no way he wants to be on a team with another guy who is the primary ball handler" is pretty stupid since he obviously went to Miami and played with a guy named D Wade.

Wade was never a primary ball handler before LeBron came to Miami. Before LeBron the Heat ran their offense through Wade as the SG but always employed a traditional PG like Jason Williams or Chalmers to bring the ball up the court and set up the offense.

They're pretty damn close then...

Six straight conference championship games, two NBA Finals, and one title.

I just love how everyone looks at their roster and says they are a mess when there was only one team in the entire NBA that could have beaten them this year and its the Spurs. The Heat don't have a lot of fixing to do. They could win the East again no problem and again in the West the Spurs are the only team that I can see that they don't match up well with.

Read up on the Heat's cap situation for next season. It's really, really bad.

The year before LeBron came to Miami he had the 2nd highest usage rating in the league.

You know who had the highest? Dwyane Wade. Yet they still were able to mesh somehow ay?

This year, with D Wade sitting out 30 games and playing limited minutes had an almost IDENTICAL usage rating as Kyrie Irving (about .2 behind him)

A PG bringing the ball up the court and then instantly giving it to D Wade is no different than Kyrie Irving bringing the ball up the court.

As I said earlier, I dont think he goes back to cleveland, yet. But Kyrie Irving is definitely not the reason why he wont go there or wont fit in. He loves Kyrie.

There were several teams in the West capable of beating the Heat.

Hell, the Spurs were lucky to get past the Mavs.

The Spurs had the best record in NBA for a reason. The Thunder were not going to beat the Heat. Who else in the West do you think would have beaten the Heat?

Lawlz no, and this is coming from someone who can't stand the Heat. Spurs obviously and maybe Memphis or Dallas would have given them trouble. The rest of the teams...no

Well I guess forget everything I said yesterday. I can't really fathom Bron being sold with David Blatt.

I really did believe there was like a 20% chance that Cleveland had a shot a few days ago, but clearly they aren't tooling up to make that bid for him. I also thought they'd be shopping that #1 pick for someone like Kevin Love, although I knew that was kind of a longshot as well.

Bump. Some real gems in this thread

quote:

quote:

You Cavs fans are delusional if you think Lebron is coming back after that petty-arse letter Gilbert sent out.

There are a multitude of teams that have young talent and can pay Lebron. He isn't going back to Cleveland to make that dipshit owner richer after the stunt he pulled.

quote:

If Gilbert took the high road when he left, I'd say you're right. There is no way Lebron is taking the ego hit to go back and be a subordinate of the guy who acted like Gilbert did.

quote:

The fact that you guys can't appreciate how much of a cloud that throws over everything is what is comical. It's a complete non-starter for Lebron.

quote:

Know who would be signing his checks? The owner who shite on him. No way Lebron cows down and goes back to that.

quote:

It really is comical seeing you guys trying to talk yourselves into him returning.
