It just strikes me as strange because I keep hearing speculation that Tressel is taking the fall and will become the AD in a few years.
It just seem counter-productive to have the Tressel take the fall and then ascend to the AD position later.

I think Ohio State finding the emails in Tressel's account eliminated any chance of that.

It's in Tress's contract that he has an asst. AD job after he retires. They'd have to fire him or not hire him violate the contract.

I would have a difficult time believing this. Who would be the more convenient fall guy? Not Tressell.
I doubt the punishment will be horrible, but may really put the crimp on this season.

I'm not sure how someone could think that would be a good idea. I'm thinking this situation is going to end any chance Tressel has at being an athletic director.

Sure it would. We avoid lack of institutional control and he still gets his assistant AD position.

He would give up his job and his reputation for the title of assistant AD? That doesn't sound right.

Or he's trying to look out for the future of the football program by eating the sanctions and all the hate he takes for a lessor suspension.
Not saying this is why and that it actually happened. But I think it's bullshite the only people that Tressel made aware of this were the FBI, Cicero, and TP's mentor.

I'm sorry, but I just don't buy that. If he was about coming clean, he would have just suspended the players immediately.

In my opinion Tressell needs to resign and the sooner the better. The NCAA is going to hold out on this until August....just before the start to the 2011 season. I think they could feel compelled to make a "statement", and may put the hammer down hard unless OSU shows they don't condone Tressell's lying.
