I already said that if he gets fired so be it.

I also didnt say it should be treated lightly. You are blind to the facts if you dont think virtually EVERY D1 coach knows a player that has recieved some money from somewhere. Most may not know the details as Tressell did but they arent running around trying to start an investigation.

He should be, i always liked him but he has a way of getting NCAA attention, if i were an OSU fan i would be worried about how more investigations would turn out.

This all came about because OSU self reported. Tip. Never self report.

especially enjoyed how he kept calling it "a goof", as if hiding infractions, knowingly playing ineligible players, then lying about it to the NCAA is equivalent to wearing mismatched socks

I highly doubt this happens. They didn't get "Failure to monitor" or "lack of institutional control" I think the most is a few scholarships and probation but OSU will be fine. This wont be a USC type punishment IMO.

Personally, I think the 2010 season (minus the Sugar Bowl) will be vacated, Tressel will be suspended the entire season, we will be banned from any bowling, and may lose a few schollys. I don't think we fire Tressel (I hope we do ASAP just for sanctions sake). I then think this entire season will be Luke Fickell's job interview and Tressel resigns after.

The more I think about it, and like a few other tOSU posters (and Jack Nicklaus), I think Tressel is biting the bullet for others here. I also recently heard a story this past Easter weekend from one of my relatives who lives in Youngstown. He's retired, but works at a golf course to shoot the shite with people. Tressel called in and the course pro, who I'm guessing is good buddies with him, asked him how he was doing. My relative didn't know exactly what was said, but was told Tressel hinted at the fact that there was more to this than people know.

If there's more then the public knows its gotta be really bad for OSU

If they're gonna vacate wouldn't they have to vacate more then last season? I think the players are ineligible from when they got the benefits. I don't know this for sure, but I would think that tats started before last season.

ETA; who could he be covering for? Smith? Who cares, get a new AD. No way its Gee. Don't see how he could be involved.

ARe you insane?

This came about because your coach is a liar. Maybe he won't certify to the NCAA that he reported any possible infractions he knew about WEEKS after he found out about possible infractions.

Who would have thought that lying to the NCAA would be bad? I mean, no one in recent history in a high profile manner has gotten in trouble for lying? Oh wait, Dez Bryant how did that work out?

I'm a big bencoleman fan, mostly for extraneous reasons including his avatar.

I honestly think that Tressel MAY be suspended for the whole year, but I bet he just gets 3 more games.

8 game suspension(it could only be 5 who knows). I highly doubt they vacate any wins, and I don't think a bowl suspension is coming either.

Tressel may or may not be fired. If I had money on it, I would bet Tressel's not being fired.

Do you mean there is more to it in that others knew? Or that there is more to be found?

It reads both ways.

I think he should get a full year suspension. No recruiting, no coaching practice, no contact with players. 365 days. If OSU wants to stand by him for a year, more power to them. Doing so will probably increase the penalties they get though. If I had to make a guess, I think he resigns in August citing esophigial spasms.
