I like Tressell. I think he is a great coach, one of the best in the country. That being said, if he gets fired so be it. Ohio State will continue to be successful imo.

If he does get fired who are the first 5 schools that come running for him? Any SEC schools?

What the players did constitutes a major violation. The NCAA has said this. Tressel has acknowledged this. The OSU AD & Pres have acknowledged this.

Tressel lied about major violations and knowingly played ineligible players.

Youcan't spin this. Tressel is done. 2009 & 2010 will be vacated. No Big ten title game this year and no bowl games for 2 years. Get ready big boy.....

so because tenn fired their coach osu should do the same

If the university values ethics. Are you denying this is an ethical issue?

Tressell claims he didn't say anything because he didn't know who to tell...

Liar.

Clinton didn't get in trouble for cheating, and to answer your question about what Saban would do if he got that email, look what he did for the textbook case. Same situation. Found out they were ineligible, and sat the players and self reported to the ncaa

and tress and the university did the same thing with troy smith. he goofed one time. quit sweating the buckeyes nuts

He hid the fact that money was being funneled to players.

When the jig was up, he lied to the NCAA. That's why he's in more serious trouble than if he just omitted tellin about the violations from the beginning.

and this was the biggest goof. but when was the last time a coach was suspended in college football?

this IS a big punishment and is a rare occurence. people are laughing it off

If this was the criteria for being fired a little investigation would have about a hundred D1 football coaches gone!

You are a blind homer (well, you probably are anyway) if you believe it would be treated as lightly as you propose, anywhere under the same circumstances.

That suspesion doesn't really have any teeth to it, he is only suspended from coaching the actual games. He can coach throughout the entire week, set the gameplane, etc. The only way that suspension would equal "big punishment" would be if he could not coach at all during the time period.
