i would be upset because this would all be caused by the media.

heres what happened....

kids have been selling merchandise at ohio state and every other school since ncaa football became a big business.

the guy ohio state players sold to got raided thus they found the stuff.

tressel is informed of this. he says, well shite thats dumb i'll handle this myself as it's not that big a deal. it's their stuff.

december a whole shite storm hits and the media runs wild.

give him 5 games. take a million dollars. shut the frick up.

Forde's really going out on a limb here.

Of course he should be fired, and I can't envision a scenario where he doesn't get fired.

hmmmm about 6 months ago, there was a coach that was fined 1.5 million dollars, suspended 8 games(half of conference season), and was subsequently fired when charged with ethical misconduct.

wrong sport and that situation involved recruits. the big no no.

when was the last time a coach was suspended in ncaa football? people are acting like this is a common occurence.

missing 5 of 12 games >>>>>>>>> worse missng 8 of 40.

Pearl had kids over to a BBQ, if they'd been seniors in highschool there would have been no violation.

Tressel lied about a situation, so that his team would remain competitive. At the same exact time when a high profile SEC player was suspended for doing the same thing the OSU players were guilty of.

You're right. Tennessee fired Bruce Pearl after his unprecedented run of 6 straight NCAA tournaments, while taking Tennessee to heights previously unseen in knoxville, because he lost the first tournament game in 2011.

OK.

I'm not even sure why there's this much debate about it. Its going to happen. I guess the only thing Tressel would have going for him is if, like some have argued, he actually did tell the AD but then Ohio State's just fricked.

Forde can't compare Woody and Tressel.

There was a LOT of fire Woody sentiment going on around Columbus when Woody hit that guy(who didn't even know he was hit fwiw).

Ohio State was looking for an out to get rid of a living legend they thought was past his prime.

Just throwin that out there.

once again it's a big dif when you're talking about recruits.

1. Tressel is much more beloved and it is up for the university to decide what happens. Pearl was a schmuck who had one good season.

2. and this really bugs me. WHen AJ Green got suspended most were in an uproar about it. Saying it wasn't a big deal. 4 games is way too much they said. OSU players do it and 5 games wasn't enough for them

No it's not, the initial violation was of a secondary nature.

If Tenn had simply reported the offense, no action would have been taken.

If Tressel had reported the offense, star players would have been suspended.

Which violation sounds worse on the front end?

To put it politely, The Ohio State University has a rather high opinion of itself. Buckeye Nation has always believed it stood for more than the average football factory. Its fans have long disdained the scofflaw status of the Southeastern Conference, even as SEC teams have taken turns beating the Buckeyes in big games over the years.

I loved reading this part the most.

Thank you, Pat Forde.

I would argue what Tress did was way way way worse. He completely corrupted last season. Had he done the right thing, the season would have played out differently.

not really accurate either. UT fans protested outside the building after he was fired, and most of them are very upset he was canned.

Dont care about the players. 5 games and alowing them to play in the bowl seems fine to me.
