However, it all still was not a good result for CBS and the NFL as the match-up went late and delivered 9.9/18 in metered market ratings. That’s down 13% from the 2016 TNF opener on CBS and NFL Network when the New York Jets beat the Buffalo Bills

Damn son. Packers and Bears getting crushed by the bills and jets

Most of America turned it off and went to bed during the delay. Nothing to see here.

Has this board always been so obsessed with tv ratings or is this a new thing

The anti-NFL crowd creams in their pants every time the ratings are released.

Weather delay couldn't have helped, but did the weather cause a 13% drop?

The poliboard rejects are trying to create a narrative that their "protest" is doing damage to the NFL.

I have a questions about rating and football. An average football game runs 3 hours. How long does someone have to view a game for their household to be included in that number?

Nah, just the anti-mixing politics with sports crowd. I want the NFL and ESPN to tank hard, then maybe it will revert back to being an escape from the daily grind.

Does this take into account how many streamed it on Amazon or people that watched it on NFL Network?

I watched it on Amazon. I know its the first year that they have rights to show all Thursday night games.

CBS and NFL Network combined for a 9.9 overnight rating. That makes the game the most-watched TV program in America last night, and it’s an increase over the 8.6 rating that CBS and NFL Network got from last year’s Bears-Packers Thursday night game, which was in Week Seven.

It’s also a big increase over the 4.8 rating that last year’s Thursday night Week Four game received, although that game was only on NFL Network, not on CBS.

The NFL and football in general are dying (due to CTE issues) so it's never reverting back to anything. ESPN can't revert back because they'll have nothing else to talk about.

Eta:I'm getting downvoted but the NFL isn't going to be around in 20 years. Pee wee, middle, and HS attendance numbers around the country have been going down. There are plenty of huge football fans on this board and elsewhere who won't let their kids play the sport. And with all these studies coming along with the possibility that they'll eventually be able to detect CTE in live patients, the sport is experiencing its last hoorah.

That game was a wrap after the 100th fumble.

You find it funny that people boycott melt, I find it funnier that people melt over the fact that some people are choosing not to watch
