The Pacers were caught off guard when Paul George informed them he was planning to opt out of his contract this upcoming summer and not re-sign with Indiana. However, they seem to believe that George's choice was influenced by powers outside of George's camp.

According to Peter Vescey on his Patreon, the Pacers plan to file tampering charges against the Lakers over George. When George told the Pacers his plans of opting out, he apparently told them his preferred destination was Los Angeles and the Lakers. However, Indiana opted to trade him to the Thunder.

pacers need to file the paperwork for their GM's dumbass decision making.

I don't wanna send him to a contender in the east who is going to give me decent value, so lets send him west for shite.

It's called banishing him to play with the most selfish player in the league.

So banishing him for one year was more important than rebuilding the team and doing his job. Got it.

Damn, playing with the reigning MVP and being on a top 4-5 seed west team will really show him not to mess with Indiana!!

How can you actually tamper in sports? Did the Lakers send operatives to Pacers headquarters and burglarize the Pacers' contracts and books? Did the Lakers put a gun to PG13's head and coerce him to commit to them and it was recorded? As far as I'm concerned players and teams can talk to whoever they want however they can't breach their contracts to their principal but possess alternatives when they're released from their obligation via either an option or expiration that was freely negotiated between the two parties.

Well it's not about What YOU think . There are rules... however stupid they may be, they still have to be followed

Did i profess to be an authority on this? No, just it appears a bunch of bullshitt that they would actually have grounds to file tampering charges facially, it's essentially what all butthurt teams do when their star players/coaches decide to leave the only recourse they may actually have. It's a bunch of baloney.

Right and George's agent is also Julius Randle's and D'angelo Russell's agent.

Lol k. Sure, maybe by the absolute word of the law the Lakers committed some tampering, but they didn't do anything to warrant a punishment like not allowing PG to sign next summer

Tampering is absolutely rampant in the NBA. Thank goodness somebody is actually finally filing charges.
