Even with paying a FA premium, it's still right on market value. I don't get the disbelief about the number.
Could he suck? Sure. Is his contract completely out of whack based on market value? No.

People didn't think Osweiler was worth $20M when I raised the question a few weeks ago.
The weapons are around him in Houston. Not to mention that defense should put them in decent situations.

I guess it can work out. There's just plenty of cautionary tales of a QB with s small sample size getting the big contract from another team and flopping. I can't think of any that worked out.
There's too many QBs that we've forgotten about that have looked good for half a season.
