Turned around Bowling Green in one year. Went undefeated at Utah, won 2 national championships at Florida and undefeated in his first season at OSU. Yea, he's not that good.

Please edit that in a way that it doesn't look like I'm the one saying he's overrated.

Urban is most likely a good football coach, his record reflects this. And u are what your record says u are.

He will do a terrifc job at OSU, lucky pickup for u guys. But could he do what it takes each and every day to maintain Fla and his reputation in the SEC. The answer is NO. He was losing control and knew he wasnt cut out for the this type of grind. He may have had some very good reasons for wanting to get the hell out of there. But make no mistake he does not have the wherewithall to coach 10 yrs in the SEC at the level it takes.
I just hate when manufacturing bs gets rewarded and then to say u would rather have him vs Miles at LSU , give me a break.we have become very spoiled down here. Miles will eventually get his due in America but man its taking forever.

My one major hang up on Urban Meyer is how he let discipline break down on his Florida teams in 2009 and 2010. He catered to favorites and tried to be a friend to his players rather than a coach. He may have learned his lesson in his one-year sabbatical but only time will tell.

But let's not act like his 12-0 record at Ohio State was impressive. Jim Tressel left him plenty of talent (and that talent will not slack off if Meyer's recruiting is any indication) and the Big Ten went through what was probably the worst season in its history. Within a few years all that conference will be is Ohio State and Michigan because those are the only two schools recruiting at an elite level in that conference.

That same talent went 6-7 the year before when the conference was still a pile of shite.

Yeah…well…the talent Meyer left Muschamp went 7-6 in 2011 before it blossomed to an 11-1 regular season record this past year.

My argument for Meyer (who I personally think is a snake) is that he is so much younger than Saban. He could feasibly get to the NCG/Playoffs 6-8 of 10 years.

Do people not think during his time off he analyzed how he was at UF to change it? I have been shocked thus far, in a positive way, on the number of guys he has taken a pass on that are extremely talented guys. Robert Foster was going to OSU before the staff didn't like his attitude on his visit. He is the best example I can think of thus far, but there have been multiple guys that OSU passed on that I don't think he would have done so in his time at UF

Okay you Bucky's are getting to me now. I thought u guys were supposed to be knowledgeable fans up there?

Ohio State, two yrs ago was in disarray. U had all those sanctions coming down on u, half the team went to sleep hoping their name wasnt in the paper the next day. They knew all the crap they had done as well and trying to keep it down until they could get the hell out of there. U guys had some bad apples leading your team and then u had a kid try to coach them for 1 yr when everyone knew it was just for one yr. Bad Apples gone; big time coach coming in. The talent was there. Problem solved.
Muschamp inherited a similar situation but one that had been brewng for 6 yrs at the hands of your guy and the conference wasnt a pile of shite. 7-6 at Florida was a helluva job by Muschamp he had some nasty confrontations and had to deal with a ton of BS. He didnt have the big time reputation to help either, in fact he was a rookie.
Anyone with half a real football brain would see that the Muschamp's turnaround was much more impressive than Urban's at OSU.

I think that was the entire point. Im big on having a genuine high integrity guy coaching my team. Even if he does make a decision or two each yr that ages me a decade. Thats kinda part of the mystique of Les Miles.
Les wouldve never made up a bullshite story like Meyer did. Mr. Miles would go down scratching and clawing with "His Damn Strong Football" team.
He is truly genuine and that makes him 1 in a million. Everyone will realize all this one day.

Miles isn't even a current top 3 coach from Ohio let alone someone I'd put with (arguably) the best two current coaches in football.
