Sri Lanka-South Africa winner plays NZ/WI winner
Australia/Pakistan winner plays IND/BAN winner
So NZ waits til Friday and then turns around and plays SEMI #1 on Monday. Trying to make their first WC final.

This is going to be good. On paper, India, NZ, Aus and SA should make it but upsets are entirely possible.

It's about to get real tomorrow. Can't wait. I think SL win.

South Africa win their first ever World Cup knockout match
This is like their first playoff win. They have gone one-and-done in all previous editions of the World Cup. That is worse than Peyton Manning. They have always chocked in big games which is ridiculous because they usually field one the most talented teams in the competition.

Ok tell me who's left.
I've been working late the last couple days, and I've had to catch up on the Rugby 6 Nations matches.

Big quarterfinal match today. Should be more exciting than the first two.
Third Quarter Final: Australia vs. Pakistan
South Africa beat Sri Lanka in the first quarterfinal - South Africa won by 9 wickets (with 192 balls remaining)
India beat Bangladesh in the second quarterfinal - India won by 109 runs

The best 4 teams are in the semi finals. I'm not sure who the favorite is at this point. It's anyone's World Cup including South Africa who actually have flown under the radar recently.

Tournament essentially starts now. Group stage goes on too long, they should have four groups of four and play just three prelim matches, top two advance.
Australia is the betting favorite, followed by South Africa. New Zealand and India are the outsiders but still less than five to one. It's anybody's tournament.

Part of the reason I think is what happened in 07 when India was eliminated after a much shorter league round. That killed the ratings and revenue because of the large number of indian viewers. This is the other extreme though. Wayyy too long of a league round and then a mad rush at the end.

So we have a full house for the SA/NZ match....
Are the odds makers booking a NZ/AUS Final?
I know they're both hosting this years cup, but where will the final be?

Where are you streaming it from? I am stuck to watching it on my iPad. Somehow the ESPN app has disabled AirPlay option for the Apple TV.
The NZ vs. South Africa match is too close to call. I can't think of more evenly matched teams. AB deVilliers is the key for South Africa. Currently he is the best batsman in the game...has been for a few years. If NZ can't get him out soon, he will cause a lot of damage at the back end of their inning and may put the score out of NZ's reach.
Australia will be favorites going into their semifinal match vs India.
The final is going to be at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.

I think NZ are in trouble here if they don't pick up a wicket soon. Their 5th bowler has to bowl 6 out of the last 16 overs. AB deVilliers (the best finisher in the game) is looking in ominous form. SA can easily score 12-15 runs per over from here to the end. Anything over 300 will be hard to chase for NZ in a high pressure match like this.
RAIN STOPPAGE!
5.10pm Just a recap of the playing conditions. We begin losing overs only after an hour's play is lost. In case the match is not completed today, we have a reserve day tomorrow with play resuming from where it stops. If we have lost overs today, and then a further interruption pushes us into tomorrow, the match will continue to be a curtailed one. If over two days we don't get a result, New Zealand will go through by the virtue of having finished higher in the group stages
I must repeat that my stating the playing conditions has nothing to do with the weather conditions right now. This shouldn't be a very long interruption. At any rate if the interruption is long enough to not allow South Africa bat any further, the target for New Zealand is likely to be 264 in 38 overs.

Huge drop by New Zealand after almost running De Villiers out, would have been a great catch, but that might have been the game. De Villiers is crushing it.
